Which is more filling? The burger.

I cook at home too - but it takes a lot of work. Why is fast food popular if cooking healthy at home is so cheap and easy? (not a rhetorical question)
I didn't realize that either of those were considered a healthy meal? You said meal, I thought you meant say a value meal from a place with fries and a drink (which most people get), and those are more like $5-9 depending on where you go.

Fast food is popular because people are lazy. We covered this already. And some people actually think that preservative and salt laden crap tastes good.

About the only time we go out is to go to the pub for good beer, sushi, or one of the nice steak houses in town. Otherwise we cook at home, it's cheaper, healthier and tastier then any fast food and most restaurant food.

No, I don't think there should be Government Mandated food quidelines, if you don't know what/how to eat, you should be eating the crap that gets pedaled to you.

People need to get their heads out of their asses and think instead of doing whatever the commercials on TV tell you you want.

I don't know if you're dodging my point because you don't like me or because you don't see it. If the masses ate like farbin, you or I our prices would go up anyways so it's a moot point. History made our food industry the way it is for a reason - it's cheap and has the potential to feed the masses. If all of houston showed up at my saturday farmers market it would be a disaster.

Regardless, all of our major issues are results of overpopulation. Sprawl, health issues, pollution and our shitty food industry.

          Does anyone disagree?

I never proposed that. And that kind of thinking perpetuates the problems you complain about.

Just as easy as it has been made the way you say it is, it could be changed.

Los Angeles County has mandated that all sorts of info is now required on the menus, and have issued a moratorium on any more building of fast food outlets in poorer neighborhoods. There is only so much that can be done on the behalf of the society, and more that should be done by the masses.

Well, they already tried the 4 food groups, and then the pyramid. Those have not worked, it is gonna be the next step to get people to think, because they don't. Watch and see.

I got into an argument with a friend who said all food should be free, could you imagine if there was a government plan and everyone got monthly tubes of nutrient paste to prevent them from eating unhealthily.

Same thing is happening on the coast from Boston to Maine. All of the old fishing, lobstering etc towns are all being bought up by the rich driving property valuation sky high. The native population then has to move inland and works jobs catering to the seasonal population and all the waterfront property sits idle 9 months a year.

This is like a reverse urban gentrification. Same thinking in the upper class wanting all of the best sq ft / acreage.
