The embargo destroyed Haiti's fragile manufacturing industries.
It's not America's fault. Why are they depending on one consumer nation for their exports?
"Then, true to America's political swings, ideologues in the Bush administration spent years trying to oust Aristide, first by foisting a de facto and illegal aid freeze on international development agencies, and then by brazenly toppling Aristide and carrying him to the Central African Republic. Congress took a pass on reviewing these sordid events, pausing only to declare its love for the Haitian people."
Where do you think this aid was coming from? Which economy was it draining? That wasn't aimed only at Haiti either. US cut off a lot of money existing country to Mexico and many other countries.

You are a champion Artyp. You even need to argue on dead peoples. You are a great guy.

That's where you've gone from an intelligent debate to bicker arguing and name calling. You do that a lot, though.

It has nothing to do with dead people. I don't believe in helping people that haven't done anything to help themselves. If Haiti's problem was purely economical, then maybe people would be more likely to help. If they had a solid society that struggled with femine, people would help (just like people are helping with this earthquake). But they couldn't get anything done at all. They've plundered and overpopulated their country, and it's no one's fault but their own.

US is the most generous country in the world. With 90% of all donations getting lost in bureaucracy, US is still the MOST GENEROUS COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. Why not just let all the lost-causes on their own and help our own? Fuck Africans and AIDS, fuck Hatians, fuck all Central Americans. Maybe if US stopped "helping" all those degenerates, world would stop expecting a hand-out every time shit happens to anyone.

Haiti will never recover with a 10 million population. That's a fact. They do not and cannot have the infrastructure for that. They lack resources outside of finances.

Hey Artyp. Where do you see a debate? There's, no debate. You're alone, in front of a mirror, performing your usual dick swinging contest.

Why do you need to continuously bring your agressivity to all threads you sneak in? If you have nothing interesting to bring, then just shut the fuck up.

Any reason for thinking Haitians are mean people? Economics? Culture? Religion?

Well the issue with donating that was brought to my attention recently was that you really do have to find a [GOOD] charity for Haiti (Food, Medical Supplies, Shelter Builders, etc etc...) because if you donate to the Haiti Government, you more than likely get robbed. The Government over there is a mob essentially. I wouldn't worry about the Gangs so much as the Government.

Lee, I see two people argueing over the Dead, not just Apy.. While I agree with both of you in varied degrees I'd say that it's not another countries responsibility to hand hold a lesser country. In regards to Haiti, I don't see what all we can do? If we go in and restructure their Government, we're ruining another culture's culture. If we let them resolve their issues, we're heartless, money hungry Capitalists with no scruples. Which is it?

Currently one of the biggest contributers to Haiti is America. More specifically, IT'S PEOPLE. We are a Generous people that see this level of devastation as a severe tragedy. This amount of lost life is, as a previous poster stated, regardless of religion, a fucking tragic shame. My heart and Prayers go out those surviving and those volunteering.

anyways my view on this situation over there,
my haitian friends living in the dominican republic are very heart broken by this... most of there families live in haiti and they have had NO contact with anyone yet.. imagine not being to get ahold of you mother or father brother or sister... and there trapped under a fuckin rock somewhere dieing.. im sure anyone of us would go nuts to try and get there and help... problem is... they are not letting anyone across the dominican/haitian border.. unless you are aid/proper permission, and if you run across you are shot.

now these people have begun to loot/ steal from shops... mostly to get money somehow for food/water... they are desperate, i would do the same if everything was destroyed and people fearing for survival... im not saying everything over there is "nice" they have a lot of gangs... they will start to take advantage of this situation. 2 dominican doctors were shot the other day by them... supplies were stolen... moral of the story, they need outside help... who cares who it is.. they need money and supplies.. or that country will go to shit and slowly after they will flee into the dominican republic... thats when all hell breaks loose.
