    As for earthquakes and wars....

Earthquakes are a natural function of the planet. Religion, however, is man-made, and many wars have been fought in its name.

      Robertson is just a televangelist.

Yes, earthquakes are a natural function of the planet, religions were made by men, and wars have been fought in the name of religion. Very good. Nothing gets by you.

We sent two missions out today, and one tomorrow. I go on Sunday. Been there before it's a 4th world imo.

the LDS church here just sent 2 planes full of missionaries

I was also listening in the radio this morning about the problem with the drug lords over there and how they might use this situation to try to "claim" control over new areas by jacking the food and help coming in and taking out other drug lords that might be in a bad shape over the quake. that's just fucking sad.

a dude at here at work was just raising money for a trip to haiti to help people out, before the earthquake happened. it looks like his trip may be cancelled, but one of his friends there sent him this

This is an update from Tom.

Our family is safe. The buildings, homes, businesses, and hospitals of Port-au-Prince are flattened. We stand outside and weep as we hear thousands of crying people. Thousands have died, many, many around our house. Ten of the boys were out rescuing people from under fallen walls and buildings.

One of our guys from Minnotree just came by on motorcycle, The big rice factory, with 500 men working, collapsed. Titiyan, Source Matles, Minnotree, flat, except a few houses; Pastor Jackie's house still stands tall.

Gas station near our house, market, all flat. Several hospitals have collapsed, and, therefore, no place to take people. My boys who have families in these villages are weeping and praying in the yard. We feel it is too unsafe to drive with power lines down and total chaos.

Our houses shook and swayed back and forth for at least ten seconds. I was driving and thought the axle fell out. Roger is not here. He was in Port-au-Prince at bible college. Pray for Manel, Roger, Jony and Deckenson, Claismay, Bobby and our entire staff.

The air is full of wailing. We just got after shock, about four of them since the big one, and the boys are afraid to come in the houses. More later. Not sure what lies ahead. God is in control. Pray for the people of Haiti. tominhaiti.
sounds pretty fucked up. Maybe it will draw the worlds attention to one of the poorest nations on the planet. I know things suck here in the great "recession" but even the poorest bastards in the USA have it better than the average joe there.

Indeed. Seeing the poverty in Haiti made me appreciate the stability of the U.S. that much more.

the team i go down to the dominican with is shipping a ton of water over to the other half of the island. I think the water purifier we installed can do something like 20,000 gallons a week. i just talked to the director of the organization and he said its absolute destruction across the border

these next few pictures are a bit hard to swallow. I dont post them for a shock factor but this is what is actually going on down there and words cant describe what these people are going though. Religion or not, this is just a shame....

Haiti is soon going to go thru a sanitary crisis. 100,000 corpse to identify (meaning more delays) and "get rid of".

I hope that this tragedy is the cold shower that other developped countries need so that they understand that even the million $ they will give won't be enough. The country requires to be under some kind of supervision by UN until the political and social structures are strong. There has been a huge serie of dictators, profitors and incompetents in Haiti. None has served the country. But many got very rich...

Currently, all the regional "gang lords" are taking advantage of the situation...
