My ruckus itch is becoming difficult to tame. I wish they became available on the used market more often. In other news I saw a hipster at the cascade station starbucks with a cool looking little scooter called a sachs madass. Sadly it is chinese, so I won't buy one, but it looked pretty cool. Kinda like a modern take on the ole' honda trail 90's.

Mmm, I may need one of these for a super high mileage vehicle. How do they do on gas mileage. Stock of course.

Whoa, these things are sssiick when modded! How do they get the rear wheel to sit behind the seat instead of underneath it like that?

It is necessary to install an after market engine mount. This is typically done be removing the stock 49 cc motor that mounts through the holes in the rear frame and instead welding (lots of weld on mounts) or bolting (few that I know of) on an engine with a larger displacement. 150 CC motors that are referred to as a GY6. Honda originally built the GY6 motor and now there are many knock offs produced and used by Chinese scooter makers. Just about every 150 cc scooter can be seen to have a good donor motor for a Honda Ruckus swap.
I have been working on mine bit by bit for over a year, but I have too many projects...

I blast around on a moped. I'd love to have a ruckus some day, but this thing doesn't need a license and the one time $25 registration doesn't hurt either.

Yup! 65cc Metrakit, 19mm dellorto carb, oversized wahle piston, rito crank, new bearings, seals, on and on... Just completely rebuilt the engine and breaking it in right now. Oh man is it silky smooth.

When I first bought my ruck 2 years ago, I added an ATR stretch kit and cut down the stock seat frame. I've been cruising it down to the beach and around town 100% reliably ever since (about 3000 miles). I love it. Those $6000 gy6 100% custom rucks are cool, but I prefer my stocker that can take a beating and not flinch.
