          Engine swaps have been done on the Ruckus using 250 cc engines. One that comes to mind used a Honda Helix 250 cc motor. That scooter was plated and registered as just a standard 49 cc Honda Ruckus scooter. Not sure what kind of trouble the owner got in with it if any. I sold him the engine for the swap. He custom fabricated the mount for the Helix engine and braced it pretty well.
          So even though it can be done does not make it legal in the state of California.
          In general the Ruckus was not meant for large engine displacement and this results in lack of stability and manuverablity once one goes beyond a certain size engine.
