Could be. Did you know that the sun has "seasons" similar to the way the earth does? Periods of heating and cooling, per se. I saw a presentation on this a couple of years ago. This is one of the scientific arguments on the side of the debate that says that people do not cause global warming.

Scientists have no proof to back up what you just said. Only evidence. But they do, however have proof that says that the earth's average temperature has been rising over the past 30 years.

Yeah no shit why do you think I said it. Solar out put can vary from day to day, hour to hour, or century to century or anything in between. There is enough energy hitting the surface of the earth in any give hour to power all of humanities energy demands for something like a decade. Its a chain Nuclear fusion reaction that is only regulated by its own fucking mass and composition, other wise it would have snuffed it self out 4.5 billion years ago.

You dont think slight variation of solar out put can effect the temp on earth????

Yeah about 150 years, dude thats less than a milli second in time in the grand Scheme of things, thats less then a snap shot. WE have not a clue of the short term weather patterns are let alone ones that play out over 100' or 1000's or 100,000's of years.

Records in terms of long term averages give a fairly good picture... of course though, you're not going to get the weather report for July 19th, 12,851BC... short term weather patterns are variable upon many factors. Jet streams, [resultant] areas of high/low pressure, season, the sun's intensity, volcanic eruptions, sea surface temperatures, the list goes on...
I'm sure I don't need to lecture on statistical sampling... but it should seem obvious that at the end of the day, we can get a pretty good picture of YEARLY averages for the past few thousand years... and clearly YEARLY GLOBAL averages are what we're interested in, as they're what will affect climate change.

Not really sure how having unusually cold winters down south eliminates any sign of global warming. I almost see it as the earth doing something about it. Doesn't anybody wonder why the fuck it is so cold?

It was predicted by the farmers alminac, which only uses trending. Only a few records fell, otherwise its not been incredibly cold. The issue is the past decade or so has been incredibly mild, spoiling motherfuckers.

Also, global warming is over, the trend line fell in 2003.

I was in Montreal for 6 days. Sunday was a little cold (compared to our very mild winter this year), but otherwise not bad. Of course the sun finally came out when we left.. damnit!

We got about an inch last week and maybe somemore tonight, but other then that most of our snow is gone. I wish I had had my camera on me when we got 6ft snow drifts on both sides of the roads. It was like driving in a very narrow cayon, made of snow. Even the stock ride height volvo was leaving bumper trials in the snow it was so high on some streets around here.
