Tonight was awesome, this city is fired up! You know, good Old Vancouver, BC, USA...

And all this time I thought I was a Canadian.

Next two weeks are going to be awesome. The protesters have their rights, but are wasting their time. The money is spent, the world is here and watching.

Pretty sure the money the community will make off of it will be greater than tax spent on it. Well thats normally how that works.

[QUOTE=SamE30e;1867249]If anyone has been following the Olympic torch relay, you've probably seen the protests. I turned the tv on today and saw that the torch was downtown Vancouver and there were protesters blocking Vetern torch bearers. It turned out that they wouldn't move so they re routed the torch and the Veterns didn't get their chance. What fucking losers, I'm pretty sure they're native Canadians wanting free homes or some shit, they have their right to protest, but have some fucking respect.

Why not post up the actual article then say your piece... being from ontario... you have seen or perhaps know (doubt it) about the issues you have had with natives.. do your research... you are a prick! Ignorant as well! My bets conservative, would not suprise me at all.

Someone said get a job hippies... Vancouver like every other major city has a mass community of homelessness and drug addicts that wander the downtown eastside... due to health services throwing them on the street and discontinuing service to severely sick people.

The money the community makes is equal to ZERO... small business will earn some money and citizens will be taxed up the ass to cover the costs while the businesses get tax breaks and write offs...

Olympics equal FAIL... watch how many "canadians" win medals.. and "americans" for that matter as well... only won the speed skating due to a Korean fuck up #1

SamE30e is a douchebag who does not speak for anyone except is ignorant self.

I live in BC...We the tax payers are going to be paying this off for the rest of our lifetimes. The only people who are going to benefit from this shit show are friends of Gordon Campbell (our province's Premier) who are part of his inner circle. The rest of us and especially the impoverished homeless people on the downtown eastside are getting shafted. What those protesters did was wrong though.

It took Quebecers 33 years to pay off the debt of the 1976 Montreal Olympics. It might be worst for the Vancouver games. Initial costs were estimated at $1.7billion, and it is now said to be higher than $6billion... Yup, 4 times the initial "guess". I wonder who will pay and who makes the money?
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

yes but the Calgary Olympics in '88 made money. So who is to say how it will turn out? still two weeks to go.

BTW, I'll be in Montreal in two weeks.
