I bet this is what the cop wanted to do when he signed on to be a police officer, mediating petty internet fights.

While we're on the subject of cops and pranks, theres an app for jailbroken iphones that lets you change how your name and number appears on caller id, you can also choose to have it connect straight to their voicemail. Any who, I get some prank texts a while back, I go into that app, type in the info from the local police station have it go to their voicemail and leave a nice rehearsed message stating that the number has been reported as delinquent, and service will be suspended unless the owner of the phone contacted the station in person with the phone, for a $35 fine.

Fucking with little shits that like to send prank texts? Yeah there's an app for that.

I called the Portland East Precinct and confirmed, yes it was an officer (Officer Gill apparently) that called me. It's legit. So let's end it.

    Bummer.

I also asked about the anonymous number, the dispatcher mentioned that all mobile phones belonging to officers are anonymous. So are most from within the precinct offices, only a few are not. So that checks out.

Call dispatch and see if police called you or not. If they haven't, then someone can go to jail for impersonating a police officer...

    DO ET....

I've gotten many calls from police from Private numbers. That isn't always true.
