    R32 or B6 S4?

I am thinking of purchasing a 2004 R32 or a 2004-05 S4 preferably avant, it seems i can get them both for around the same price but the s4 will raise my insurance by a decent amount every 6 months compared to with the r32 it will stay the same

    Thoughts and/or ideas?:D

S4, I like the R-32 but it isn't the best bang for your buck.

Do your homework and you'll see that nearly everyone on the Audi boards recommends getting a B7 S4 over a B6 S4, and they're priced about the exact same as well. We just replaced my mother's 205k+ mile E34 540i with one and I am incredibly impressed by it. R32's are neat, but it'd be a task to find one that hasn't been modified, raced, or altogether fucked up.

I saw a clean R32 the other day, lowered, on BBS, silver, it was really nice. but as to yuor poll, id go with the S4, more room, ans still fun to drive.

Supposedly it is one of the most expensive cars to insure due to a turbo the hp and lack of safety and mostly everyone that gets them beats on them:rofl:

also you guys have to remember i am going from a e46 sedan w/ a auto
so either way its a jump:)

I had an R32 before I got a 06 audi a4 2.0tq s-line. R32 was an absolute blast, yeah it's not the lightest car out there, but the S4 is even heavier. It depends on what you are looking for in a car, R32 is more fun to drive vs. s4 being more refined and bigger / better for long drives/having 4 people in.

My r32 I had for over 22k miles, daily driver / full season of autocross got me a 2nd place in local d-stock class and it had not a single fricking problem. Very well built car, it's not like other vw's. I test drove an STI right before I got the r32, I didn't get the STI for almost the same reason you mentioned, the amount of attention it gets from the cops and insurance premium. It didn't take more than 5 minutes on the test drive for chp to be all over your ass. R32 is in a way a total sleeper.

the R32 is a total sleeper along with the B6 S4
the R32 not the fastest car but its pretty quick and MN winters + 4motion seems like a win and to the e39 m5 comment i would but i need AWD if i get a performance car so i can drive it in the winter
also comming from a at most 180whp auto e46 all the cars look appealing and i have driven both i am just stumped between the two

and back to the STI it isnt just STI's that draw the attention, one of my brothers friends had a fully debadged/no wing 2006 sti black with silver factory wheels and he got hell from the police and highway petrol when they see any form of impreza they just seem to jump on it, now he drives a Imola red e46 m3 and he said he gets half the hell from cops and his insurance went down a bit

^ yeah the B7 has a way better Quattro system too 40/60 instead of 50/50
but my favorite car right now is the Lexus IS-F (flame suit on) it just looks so mean
                      and you can pickup a 2008 w/ 20k on it for 38k

To be honest I don't recall the insurance company. Farmer's maybe? I was on the plan with my parents, but it was like, $150 a month, give or take (fuck the haters, I'm not lying). I bought my STi new at the end of 07, book was like $35,600 or something, and my friend was working at the Subaru dealer, so I got it for like $31,000 or $32,00, somethin like that, and they gave me like $11,500 trade in for my WRX (which I paid $13,000 at the time). It all ended up a very good deal in my favor. The $491 a month payments kinda got old, but I was working full time as a welder, so the $$ wasn't an issue. I'm 21 as of December 09, and it was an 07 model, so not that long ago? I don't really remember (or care to do the simple math) how old I was, but you get the general idea....

I spent a lot of time on IWSTI, and almost daily there was new threads popping up complaining about insurance... I think it's all got to do with your record, what kinda discounts you can get, your area, etc. etc. etc. (or however it's all figured). I just know that the new STi w/ full coverage was VERY affordable for me.

But.... If I can offer this up.... I've owned a Jeep wrangler, WRX, STi, and now the BMW. I have driven SEVERAL cars like new BMWs, corvettes, an Evo, and SRT-4, etc.... The STi was my absolute FAVORITE, hands down (and again, fuck the haters, amazing car, EAD).
