You speak the truth. Same reason I have an e30.

I tried not to use too many big words in this post, so you'll probably only have to look up a few.
Gah! This round is yours Newman but I'll be back. Take your reward and leave me with some dignity...

Hells no. When I was in undergrad, a girl I knew had a brand new one - a 325iS. At that point, it was prestigous.

No i don't want a prestigious car. prestigious cars are for boring old farts that want something that can heat and massage their ass at the same time.
BMWs are SPORTS cars. theres a huge difference between a sports car and prestigious car imo, but yeah.
I LOVE MY E30 AND I DONT GIVE A FUCK WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK. I think thats the easiest way to sum this up.
Anyone who DRIVES a sorted e30 changes their minds instantly about these cars. I've had many people look at it and like it, but after they drive it it's love. thats what these cars are all about.

I don't think that's the argument. I feel like ANY car, in good shape, will hold value some day, to someone. Wasn't a Chevy Nova their economy car? Now they're fucking awesome. But we ARE talking about the present, and value != prestige.

This car may be VALUABLE (to whom, IDK), but this turd will NEVER be prestigious:

this is kind of a stupid argument. The only people who care about my car are other BMW guys, and a 41 year old divorcee at a former apartment complex who wanted something to flirt with me over. (it worked.)

I oft hate when Charles confuddles the velocitator for the decceleratrix.

    I also dislike mazda clusters.

What, I'm supposed to take it that 7krpm and 115mph is "nominal" ?

Driving around at legal speeds / sensible engine speeds would be difficult for me with that dash. It's asking to be driven fast.

and then there's the fact that they wasted 30% of the available gauge real estate. They might as well finish the job, and take it to 10krpm, and 200mph.

Heated mirrors, now that I can get into - our minivan has that, and they're warm to the touch at 65. But the average car today turns off the electrical defrosters for you as a courtesy (often after 15min), which I find really annoying when driving in fog/snow/rain.
Yeah, my Daytona had a digital dash. It was a a pain to read at times. Altough i did like the speedo in it. And my Grand National had a digital boost gauge. It was completely usless.

when i think of "prestige" i think rolls royce or jag or something like that. bmw has always had a more sporty image... unless its a 7 series. a "prestigious" car is big and flashy in my opinion.
I don't see how some people are bashing e30's in this thread, makes no sense to me.
i've driven e30 through e90. e30 is hands down the best by far, and i get looks everywhere in my area in my car. they're very rare here though. if i had good paint and some RS's I'm sure people would worship my car.
