But life is. As in "We hold these truths to be self-evident; That all men are created equal. That they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights. That among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." Hard to be any of those 3 things if you're bankrupt and/or dead because you can't get healthcare. So yeah, according to our Decleration Of Independence, it is a right.

I did some research. Most of that diatribe is alarmist nonsense.

I do not doubt that the current plan is flawed, after all, it was crafted with the help of the insurance companies by politicians.

But that piece is so full of biased misinformation.....

LOL you think? It's Pinepig. He's so anti-gov't anything I'm surprised he doesn't advocate for anarchy. He wears tinfoil hats and craps in a bucket to protect himself from government spy satellites.

      No it's not.
It says life not keep you alive. They have already had/have life. As if we can control that in the first place.
Your ridiculous logic would also imply that if one person had less money than the next that his rights were violated. And that's why liberal retarded "logic" never works.

Liberal "logic"...."everyone should have healthcare just like everyone should have money....no matter what lifestyle they lead".

A surgeon and I were laughing today about how this whole thing is being decided by people who know nothing about healthcare delivery (both sides).

I'm assuming they finally posted the proposal? I was looking for it early this morning with little luck.

I think that a few of the Repub ideas are quintessential to a sustainable plan, however, I don't believe a free-market/invisible hand approach to healthcare delivery is the answer either. Once the solitary goal of healthcare deviates from the health of the patient (as it does with for-profit insurance companies and for-profit HMOs), we've already lost.

Also, there will never be a "meeting of the minds" between those who believe healthcare is a right and those who believe it is not.

PS the estimated $1tril that the plan will cost over the next ten years is a drop in the bucket of what we're already expecting to pay for healthcare in the next decade... less than half of what we spent last year alone.

That's the preamble, not the Bill of RIGHTS.

And everytime the Government "estimates" they are off by a long shot.

Even if they're off by 50%, it's still a drop in the bucket.

So, it's unconstitutional to die? Maybe we should put a bipartisan commission in charge of defining "happiness" and what constitutes the "pursuit" of it, then enforce it with the National Guard. And how would you keep hypochondriacs and chronic stupidity from clogging up emergency rooms?

The larger issue here is that you would remove any consequences for people living stupidly, and that is never a good idea. (If every test you took, you were guaranteed at least a B, would you study as hard?)

I'm still laughing about the right to healthcare. Here's how that works buddy. The right to healthcare is given by the government via tax dollars. Tax dollars also pay for a board to discuss your healthcare. Board then says you're too old, expensive, not sick enough for healthcare. You then go out in search of private healthcare and can't afford it because government entitlement programs and the taxes needed to run them have drained your paycheck. Sorry!

no cost to us... you have got to be kidding me. How ignorant are you? And if 11 trillion is such a little amount how about you pay for it, or your kids, or their kids?

ANYONE can get health care in the US, all you have to do is show up at a emergency room and they have to take care of you. Yeah you'll owe them money, but never will you be turned down for legitimate issues. I work at a grocery store(full time student and thats all I can get) and I get sick of seeing people abusing the system.
