So why not integrate the media player directly?

It is an option that costs $5 and will sell $80 extra.

TV could play music, movies, and be the integrated media center.
Samsung TV have had media players via USB direct conneciton since last year. They play everyhtign except for .mkv format...including downloaded divix.

They also can play movies and music over a newtwork via hardwire or a 802.11n adapter, they have a integrated filebrowser and can see windows share trees.

A few models last year were also DLNA enabeld.

90% of this years TVs has the USB play and network play including DLNA

Same. I like matte finish on TV's. My 50" Samsung DLP has a piano black matte finish, and it looks awesome.

I agree on the black my 62" Samsung plasma has a similar finish. My buddy that does high end audio installs a number of LEDs. We were talking about how crazy thin the new 9000 series is, I bet they are stupid light as well.

          BUT IS IT 3D?!?!

I personally like gloss and aluminum finishes. They fit well in modern houses.

I wish my TV was that thin and sexy. I have a 3 or 4 year old 32" Vizio. I love it to death though, it was cheap and it works awesome. Perfect size for my room

I just picked up a brand new sony 50 inch. Thing's got 640p it's insane, the picture quality when watching lethal weapon on VHS is phenomenal.

How about making more DLPs for us poorer people. Love our HL67A750 and I want another one.

Im bored with thin TVs. Its more of a wow factor than anything else. You still need room for the guts and unless you are mounting it its going to need a decent width for the base.

I like LED technology but I would stick with localized dimming before I gave a crap about one TV being 1/4" thinner than another (See LG, that has localized dimming LEDs in the thin market). Its not like you are carrying it around.
                      Im now E30less.

I wonder how brushed stainless look "in the flesh".

I completely agree. I've had issues with gloss finishes showing the smudge marks of random finger prints. Being the "duster" in the family it irritates me to no end.

"Off topic" but, what would the OP suggest for a TV in say, 40"?

                                Precisely.

"Check out my super thin TV, It's on .15" thick" and then it sits on an entertainment center that is 18" deep and takes up the same floor space.

And because of that we no longer have super cheap DLP's being made except for Mitsu.

The Super Bowl looked awesome on my buddies 82" Mitsu.
