At least he'd already be used to being mocked and his blind faith would carry him far in the Democratic party.

Sure, there are a couple of good things like not allowing insurance company's to terminate contracts because of pre-existing health problems, etc.

....and the world keeps spinning 'round.

Well over 2/3rds of the House and over 3/4th of the Senate approved the Iraq war. Including both parties.

The big problem is just that there are no cost control measures.

Opposing it at that time would have been unamerican.

Regarding the healthcare reform, I think the good outweighs the bad here. Is it the best solution? Absolutely not. Is it better? No doubt about it. To me the biggest improvement is getting rid of lifetime max benefits.

If you really want to get into it, I don't believe there's any reason to modify healthcare until the free market dictates food prices rather than food subsidies. The government pays our tax dollars to keep costs down on food that kills us - but then tries to reform healthcare with our same tax dollars? How about end food subsidies so that an orange isn't more expensive than a hamburger. Sure, there's a level of personal responsility involved - but we as humans are genetically engineered to eat as much fattening food as possible. It's how we adapted to life with caloricly sparse foods before the era of cheap beef and corn syrup everything.

Also, regarding personal responsibility, I believe that we should be responsible for our own healthcare, retirement, unemployment, education, business endeavors, and everything in between. Let me invest my money how I want it and stay the fuck out of my personal life. If I don't want to wear a seat belt, fuck you - I won't. Abortions? Love em. It's all too personal. Lobbyists need to die and this country needs a revolution.

Having that said, it is what it is. To me, this bill will be an improvement so long as govt option isn't WAY too cost competitive. If that's the case then the good outweighs the bad.

That happens nearly never. Why? Because we already have Federal regulations and mandates saying that it's illegal to do so.

What the hell are you talking about? People get turned down all the time for preexisting conditions.

Turned downed meaning they don't have insurance, there is no regulation. And people are being terminated currently because they lied about having a pre-existing condition which is allowing the insurance company's to terminate the contracts once they find out the person is sick.

I work for many, many healthcare professional's and this is straight from their mouths. I don't blame them for terminating contracts, personally.

and if you do take their ass to court, hope you have enough money for the drawn out trials and enduring the bullshit those companies throw at you.

fuck insurance companies, at least when they try to weasel their way out of shit. there was a big insurance case with a lady from colorado not too long ago, and she actually won, something to the tune of 40 mil or something like that..

This is true. If I misunderstood what you meant originally, my bad. That second bit, is key. Why would you blame them? Someone doesn't get health insurance. Gets sick. Lies to company (violating a legal contract) and they get their coverage terminated. There are abuses in the system, but this abortion of a bill is not doing a damn thing to solve these abuses. In fact, it's encouraging it.

Speaking of abortion... I didn't read up on if our tax dollars will cover sluts who can't keep men from giving them creampie's?
