From what I've gathered:
"peerless" off-road plate:
Pros: Heavy gauge steel. Sturdy enough to jack the car off of and support vehicles weight. Can break walnuts with it's butt cheeks.
Cons: Heavy. Non-transferable. Requires welding (i.e. body work) to mount. Not for the faint of heart nor an "easy" install. Expensive. Shitty, condescending, unscrupulous manufactuer (sp?). Terrible customer service.
EJ's skid-plate:
Pros: Lightweight yet heavy duty enough for daily driving. Easy install (minutes). Tons of shining reviews. Cheap price for the security in the face of a mishap. Fantastic customer service. Local to us West Coasters (relative).
Cons: Repeated abuse *can* lead to cracking an oil pan in the face of a railroad track. ????Need a part? PM me.

I think He's pushed EJ to make a better product.
I'm interested in EJ's "Heavy Duty" build though...If he's going to compete, I expect him to bring it and I guess it will be cheaper.Last edited by stumble_t; 03-17-2010, 11:25 PM.[IMG]http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/

Haha, "peerless"' whole design is benchmarked on the welding part, buddy ;)
And hey, if you can't drive, by all means, go with the off-road plate. The fact stands that EJ's skid-plate does EXACTLY what it's intended to do.Need a part? PM me.

EJ's plate is just as thick as the Peenless plate, it just has vent/weight cuts in it. Also I've jacked my car up by it numerous times and it's not even remotely bent. And low? Well, I couldn't get the toe of my running shoe under my splitter and I have an S50 plate which hangs lower then the M20 and I live in NH... Seriously, if people are still breaking oil pans with a Raceskids plate they are bad drivers with broken motor mounts.
Exactly.Need a part? PM me.

That's another point, if any of you have ever gone accidentally offroading in the winter you'll know that snow in your engine bay can be a problem. The Peenless plate design will simply act as a scoop and make this issue worse where the ramp design of EJ's plate would make things a whole lot better. That said, I usually drive my IX in the winter and no one makes a plate for those yet so the point is moot for me for the time being but I still think it's valid.'89 325is S50 Track Montser

One last thought:
I crashed my S50 car. My Raceskids plate was perfect so in about ten minutes I removed it and put in the pile with all the other good bits to save for my new car. Please note that the above process required only a wrench and not a plasma cutter...'89 325is S50 Track Montser

its purely preference folks. me, im an idiot and i track the car. i dont use a skid plate.
if you can drive the car fine on the street i dont know why you need a plate from the start.... and my car is low to the point where my bilstiens live on the bump stop.My feedback:
