I own a Raceskids plate, it will be mounted this weekend and by next friday I will have traveled 500+ miles over pothole ridden streets in NYC NJ and DE.... I'll let report back with my findings.

            "peerless" off-road plate:
Pros: Heavy gauge steel. Sturdy enough to jack the car off of and support vehicles weight. Can break walnuts with it's butt cheeks.
Cons: Heavy. Non-transferable. Requires welding (i.e. body work) to mount. Not for the faint of heart nor an "easy" install. Expensive. Shitty, condescending, unscrupulous manufactuer (sp?). Terrible customer service.

            EJ's skid-plate:
Pros: Lightweight yet heavy duty enough for daily driving. Easy install (minutes). Tons of shining reviews. Cheap price for the security in the face of a mishap. Fantastic customer service. Local to us West Coasters (relative).
Cons: Repeated abuse *can* lead to cracking an oil pan in the face of a railroad track. ????
non of the plates would really be suited for off-road use, they both look like they'll shovel up pounds of mud, dirt, oil and brush. I off road almost every single day whether it be dirt bike, atv or car(not e30), getting rocks jammed between motor and plate can end your day. My dirtbike has 11" of ground clearance and I still managed to beat the skid plate pretty good(big gash about 2mm away from drain plug).

For an off road skid plate it would need to cover a larger area, tuck under the valance (or infront) and use skid plate foam between plate and pan to stop stuff from getting jammed in between.

"Off-road plate" was simply a sarcasm I intended towards "peerless"' plate.

I carried this little "debate" away from EJ's For Sale add as it was cluttered with the late dickless wonders rantings and thread shitting.

I know I'm in need of one of EJ's plates. I can and do avoid most everything. The wife on the otherhand, well, I just don't hold her to the same "standard" of driving that I hold myself. That would be un-fair to say the least as I'm a very anal driver.

you know, your fiddle shoes.... shorly you must have special shoes to jump that high and still play the fiddle. Do they fit under your car?

I don't need shoes. I can fly, motherfucker.

In all seriousness though, I wore my Piloti Prototipos for the last three photo shoots I did. Simply because they are blue.
