I'm not familiar with the TT100. But if it uses a standard Technics-style headshell (1/2" mount), then you have tons of options. The Shure M44-7 would be the generic choice. The Grado Prestige Green1 would be significantly better, and doesn't cost much more.
If you're willing to spend $100, check out the Ortofon 2M Red. Most people seem to consider it the best "budget" MM cartridge on the market these days.
Some people swear by the Nagaoka MP-11 (popular in the '80s) and many people rave about the Sumiko Oyster and Black Pearl. But I've never been impressed by any of those. They all sound life-less and generic to me.sigpic

Em, that deck is a scratchers table: needs old school bayonet mount.
I know that if I were gonna scratch I would do a Stanton 581EE or an old Ortofon 3 series.Comment

Thanks for the help. I am assuming that the cartridges come with a stylus already?
Also, I don't have a headshell, but I'm assuming you get any standard headshell and cartridge and wire everything up? Do you need to buy the wires separately?
Stereo- Yah it wasn't my choice, but for free I'm not complaining. Do you think you can get pretty good sound quality out of that table? I know its not the highest end table, but I am still curious.
Thanks for the help guys, I have been wanting to start a vinyl collection and this just kinda fell into my lap.Are Three Vee

Personally I would not call that a "listening" table. Any decent $500 "audiophile" table would kill it in dynamics, staging, rhythm, pace, depth, just every damn way a turntable can be beaten sound quality wise...but to get your feet wet?
Hell yes!Comment

I was looking at some old tables on ebay a while back. I heard basically any Bang and Olufsen table is audiophile quality. I also read needles for them are hard to find.
My friend brought over his Schure M44-7 for it and we listened to it on my system and it sounded pretty damn good. I got some old Klipsch speakers as a hand me down that sound awesome. I will probably just by a cheap combo like he has and call it a day. If its something that I really want to put money into then I will down the road. I just don't want to jump in head first. Are Three Vee

Yah that would be a good option if I had money to burn, unfortunately I just spent it all on my suspension. So I will probably get this: http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com...ell?sku=800147 and call it a day. BTW, I got a Denon amp/receiver and some Sennheiser HD485s as my cans, just throwing that out there haha. Not the nicest cans but I still love them. Are Three Vee

The Stanton is like $10 more. The Shure will sound great, but the Stanton is so smooth, it works really well with the horns on your KlipschComment

Back to vinyl. I was spinning last Friday in a record shop and had fun. Three deejayz throwing "jabs" at each other for 4 hours. Two tracks each. Then in between, I was searching for records for my own personal comsumption... Last time, I found, among other things, a mint copy of the 1976 Carwash soundtrack. Superb production from Norman Whitfield.
Going back this afternoon, as every Thursday, they get 500 12" plates in the boxes...
Currently looking for a nice copy of 1973's Quincy Jones' "Summer in the city", which was sampled by Nightmare on Wax and Pharcyde. Rare groove baby!!!

What is a good website to order from that would have the Stanton? Also, does the headshell really matter or are they all the same for the most part?
I was looking at getting The Avalanches - Since I Left You, but its like 90 bucks used unfortunately. Amazing album! Are Three Vee

My first real vinyl transport case. I had it custom made locally for $160. The case can carry about 100 records, and will allow 80 to be flipped comfortably. It is single and double padded with high density foam on all faces.

Bump. Anyone have any recommendations for a good used record player? I am getting tired of my dj table and want one that is more for listening. Preferably the $200-$300 range. Any good forum classifieds? I am having a hard time finding a good audiophile forum. Are Three Vee
