I don't think there is anything that the gov't does better than the private sector.

I wonder how much cheaper our national defense bill would be, if I didn't have to write safety procedures on "How to properly close a door without smashing your finger."

That is literally not an exageration. And it only get's worse, and my division just does a small % of defense work. I can only imagine how much worse it is for other products.
