on what occasion do you ever need to downshift into 1st?

edit: i didnt see your post or it wasnt there yet Axxe. Yes, I've autocrossed for years in several BMWs and a few other cars and only very few times have we had a course that requires downshifting to 1st, not to say it couldn't be done for lots of other turns. there are some times i can imagine needing to be in 1st to go around a very tight corner, but it would be at almost a complete stop, which obviously isn't what im talking about when im referring to downshifting into 1st while driving.

I think the answer would be in reference to syncro's.

I am also guilty of the back to first shift for auto-x style biz. Rev match and let it slide in, never had a prob.

I know OP doesnt have it as the option, but 3-2 is still my fave just before you chuck it in :)

Your E30 sounds pretty damn good! Is that the stock exhaust? I've sort of forgotten what the stock M20 sounds like at high RPM. Oh and you need a windshield wiper delete mod lol
