edit: i didnt see your post or it wasnt there yet Axxe. Yes, I've autocrossed for years in several BMWs and a few other cars and only very few times have we had a course that requires downshifting to 1st, not to say it couldn't be done for lots of other turns. there are some times i can imagine needing to be in 1st to go around a very tight corner, but it would be at almost a complete stop, which obviously isn't what im talking about when im referring to downshifting into 1st while driving.

you still never answered why not...

I think the answer would be in reference to syncro's.

I am also guilty of the back to first shift for auto-x style biz. Rev match and let it slide in, never had a prob.

I know OP doesnt have it as the option, but 3-2 is still my fave just before you chuck it in :)

if she goes for that, astroglide up your pole, have her lay on her stomach and slip it in slowly and bury it to your balls and leave it there until she relaxes. once she is used to it slam that ass like a screen door.

                My fav is NONE.

                M30 swap: $4000
Full stop, second gear: Zero dollars.
Scream it up to 50 while pulling away faster than most any car on the road can do in first gear: Priceless.

No. But I counted every penny of my swap. Right down to the paint I used. It adds up. I and resent what you're insinuating.

Well hot shit, I'm happy to hear this. I've been doing this since I was a kid since no one ever taught me anything and figured out the art of rev-matching on my own.

You guys get a chirp from 2-3rd?! Time to invest in some wider/stickier tires.
My favorite it 3-4th just as I'm bouncing off the r3vlimiter exiting turn 9 at PR.
