I just LOL'd at people boycotting BP gas stations

-Gas stations have the BP name but are owned by locals.
-Gas is traded on the open market so the gas at BP stations is always from BP
-Oil from BP is used for all sorts of products besides gas.

So essentially a boycott of BP gas stations hurts only the individual owners and they're employees. Gotta love enviromentalist wackos.

well it's the same thing as those idiots who are boycotting Arizona Ice Tea because of the whole immigration issue even though the drink is made in New York.

I doubt these idiots have enough numbers to make an actual dent in profits for the owners.

These are the type of people who have no reason to exist in this world. These are the type of people who breathe the same air as us, drive on the same roads as us, and have control in all of our live be it running businesses or politics.

This rant is brought to you by one thoroughly pissed off individual at the moment for personal reasons so consider it a rage post. I am just sharing the personal hatred I feel at the moment.

I refuse to go to BP in my area... but only because it is like $0.35 more a gallon than the Sunoco right across the street from my house.

You guys have missed the point of the boycot. This boycot is meant to harm BP in the public opinion, not to hurt them financially. Every single mutlinational knows it is its best interest to have a good image with the public. Not only BP knows the oil spin is not helping them in that matter, but seeing that there's a public response in the form of a boycot, will force them to put even more money fixing the problem, and fixing their image along the years. If nobody followed that boycot, BP would think that people don't care, and they won't be motivated to properly clean-up their mess, and compensate fishermen for the next 20 years.

About hurting the gas station owner and not BP. If the owner looses money on selling BP fuel, don't worry, he can sell fuel under another banner. And that other banner will be happy to help, in order to take a share from BP's market.

And to those who think it's only an oil spin and that it doesn't really matter, please give me your address. I will dump a truck load of old oil on your grass, house and car to the pint where you won't be able to use your car, go to work, and make ends meet. Then you let me know if it's still "only an oil spill" and that nature will take care of it. ;-)
