    Gulf ''Oil Leak''

I think it's all set up for something we will learn about later, and in the end it will be ? that gets all the credit.
Maybe we are about to go to War and the other country thinks we are to concentrated on our oil disaster when in reality were getting ready to nuke em.
With all the Hydraulic Equipment that is available today they should be able to put a Hydraulic Plug / Cap on how ever many lines that are down there. and + Possibly take a Large Jaws of Life down and pinch them closed or at least.
We can split Atoms go to Mars Live in Orbit, and we can't even close a pipe @ 5000 Ft in water? Sounds to fishy to me.

have you not read anything that has been posted it here. This is actually much harder than sending shit to space. The pressures and currents those DSRV's are dealing with are huge. This is not like pinching off the garden hose or putting a stop fitting on a broken pipe while fixing the plumbing in the basement.

The BOP is just like the Jaws, it has 2 huge rams the pinch to will casing a if need be the drill string off in case of a blow out. It failed for what ever reason (I have a theory but will wait till more evidence comes out) so its not like you can just go bolt on a new one with 2000psi of water pressure at depth and 6800psi of well pressure.

Please use some thought before your next post

I have a conspiracy theory about all this...

When the accident occurred initially, BP knew the extent of the problem within a few days. They probably had plans and ideas within a week that could stop the leak, but... those plans would make the well unusable to them and thus they would lose their investment in that well. The solution? Downplay the situation and buy as much time as possible so their engineers could devise a solution that would both stop the leak and allow them to use the well.

Just a theory, but it does seem like something a modern day company would do...

I understand it's not good to allow oil to completely flow out into the ocean unrestricted. But, is the oil coming out not crude oil? Crude oil can be "decomposed" by bacteria in two years or so. I think we should worry more about getting the cap fixed, instead of people bitching about clean up efforts. They can work on protecting the coast but focus a bit more on the cause of the problem. There has to be a more obvious way to fix that shit.

              What he said again

Charlie thank you, I was thinking the last one was 1912 and yes I was thinking of the Cuyahoga. I learned something thanks. so in the last 50 years then, seems the environment is much better now since we dont have those pesky rivers ablaze on a regular basis anymore.

I'm sure there is oil spilled into our oceans every year, it may even be a significant amount. However, this spill is much greater in size and having a very large direct impact on myself as well as the entire Gulf coast and more.

I don't really understand your position. Do you think its not a bad thing? Do you think the oil companies shouldn't be responsible and prepared to stop such a situation? Am I stupid for not liking the situation?

I think its quite the contrary.

Look at that first statement that you wrote one more time, now go look up some info on how much and where the oil comes from and see if what you wrote is true ( especially the bolded part ).

It's definitely a bad thing that the oil is dumping into the ocean, but in the grand scheme it really is a drop in the bucket. The oil company is doing what it can to stop it, do you ( and the others in this thread ) really think that BP doesn't want this stopped as soon as possible, it costs them a metric shit ton every day that this goes on, don't ya think they would rather not if they could stop it right now.

What makes you ( and the others in here ) think that BP is not going to be responsible for what is happening, it's going to cost them BILLIONS by the time this is done. I don't think you are stupid for not liking this, I find it funny that a bunch of you now care about oil in our oceans because of this spill, it's not even a significant percentage of the oil is being dumped in the gulf and because of folks like you public policy will change and we'll end up having to get more of our oil from other places ( like the middle east ). There is a reason the term " useful idiots " actually came to be, try not to be one, the world would be a better place if folks decided to educate themselves about the world around them rather than being spoonfed soundbites by the MSM and buying their BS hook, line and sinker.
