I love mine. It's performance is stellar, even browsing on 3g. 4g is wicked fast and its great to tether with.

Well, I've been on the $70 everything data plan for awhile.. But I'm not down to spend the other $40 ($110 total) to have the WiFi hotspot unlocked and the $10 premier charge.
The phone looks amazing and I want it pretty bad, but the extra charges are too much
THIS.. Has anyone rooted the EVO yet? I looked around...
I agree... And the extra $10 fee (which they have poorly explained) is still way cheaper than anyone else.
Yeah, Atlanta seems to have full 4G coverage, so that's another reason I need to get this.. But, those extra charges are bugging me! I just need to get one and crack the WiFi feature, then I'll be happy I think.

Yes the EVO has been rooted already. That was, actually, alarmingly too quick. Even for the guy who did it. He is going to inform Sprint and HTC how he did it, as he feels it could be a security issue.
The screen size is, as I stated earlier, perfect. I tried Google maps on Sunday for the first time, and placed my EVO down in the little cubby area ahead of the shifter. With the screen the size it is, and as clear as it is, it was very easy to glance down and see all the info I needed. I plan on a mount, just giving it some time so I have the best option available. Oh, and while the screen is very large, the actual phone isn't that much bigger then many of the other phones out. Only slightly. Its just all screen.
Is the phone perfect? No. Don't think any phone ever will be. Does it blow anything I have seen, tried, or had before out of the water? You betcha.

Whats hard to explain. Its a second radio and a second network basically, and you are getting it for $10 a month. Fuck the wifi thing, I just use PDANet to tether (wired or wirelessly) I dont do multiple computers because, well, its not really worth it for me. My girlfriend can tether her hero. The $10 goes to rolling out and maintaining the 4g network.
The $30 feet for the hotspot makes sense because they know you are going to be raping the network with it. Shit, in Atlanta its as fast as my parents Comcast cable internet in KC. If I lived alone it could easily replace hard wire internet for me (but my girlfriend would lose access when I left).
Just pay the $10 and realize that you have a top of the line phone with a plan that is 5-10x faster than anyone else for still $5 less than the closest 3g plan.
I think I realized where the battery complaints come from (mine lasts a day easy with some simple management like leaving 4g off when I am not using the phone as a modem). People keep picking the thing up and fucking with it. So its getting like 3x the use it normally would. My girlfriend actually got pissed while SHE was buying shoes because it took too long, the guy at Cole Haan spent like 10 minutes playing with my phone.Im now E30less.

You need to remember this as well, $10 for unlimited 4G use is still far better than anything on say .......AT&T who is now completely limiting use of their 3G network! If you want to complain about extra fees, go to AT&T where their about to ass rape their entire base!Comment

I think I am going to get it today. It has a mobile hot spot creator built in. Supposedly that is free for now. It might change. Someone will make an application though. Root it. Whatever has to happen. It tethers nicely anyways and like said... normally just my own computer.

But for those of us who don't have 4G, and unlimited 3G is already included in the plan, it kinda sucks.
Although now I think I've reached teh breakeven point between canceling my contract or riding it out. So I may have to wait a few more months until my iPhone contract runs out before I switch.

Did you try the Lenox square Sprint store? You will have to mail in the rebate (BB, Radio shed and the like were fronting it) but I just wandered in and picked one up, no waiting (well, it took about 30 minutes total because there was a delay in their activation system).Im now E30less.
