Low to mid 20's with lots factory warranty still left on them. the budget M5 is the GXp version and those are the limited run and are still holding in the upper 20's to mid 30's some still as new old stock.
Yes a real manual box can be found in the standard trim g8's have to look a little bit but they are out there. You have to get a GT trim level, to get the V8 in non GXP trim.
The CTS-V 04-06 mid mileage are mid teens to 20ish, all are 3 pedal 6 speeds RWD and have a 400+ hp 395lb/ft LS2 (iirc) in it. 07 they went to the small block 427cid (7l) LS7 zo6 engine in them.
The Caddy will prolly be easier to find, but will lack the factory power train warranty that I am fairly sure is on the newer ones and the G8's of 5 years/100k
What I would do, get the G8 and get Iain to get you all the Holden body work. badges and breaks other holden goodies, and have your self one of the few left hand drive Holden Commodores in the states.
Iain thanks for the great info. I'd really like the new body style STi, but even a lightly used one is more than I'd feel comfortable spending on a car.
It's too bad the new WRX is so bland looking or it probably wouldn't even be a contest.
sleeve, good reco on the Caddy as well, except I remember reading something about the V8 cars eating diffs like crazy.

that was mostly people out there drag racing them every week end and guys not keeping up with the maintenance on them. The father in law only has had one come through the shop since they came out, it was an 08 and still had the grease number in the back window form the track.
Uncle has had 2 of them and flogged them constantly never had an issue. I think the diff eating was when they went to the LS7 500hp 496lb/ft in 07 and did not put a little better diff in them. Not the early ones that only had the LS2 in them.
I still want a Black CTS-V (2ed on the list of 4-door cars I am willing to own RS4 is 1st, then cts, then GXP G8, then e39 M5) but I really want a 135I too, but I have 4 years till I can think about a fun car again at least.
The 09 has a lot of upgrade potential. A guy i do weekend work with builds Subaru engines and tunes them, and he reckons they have way more potential than any previous Subaru. He is very impressed with the grunt and handling, less so with the looks...
I'd go the Commodore over a Subaru. I forgot you guys got them over there.
PS: I have a serious chubb for one of these VE SS-V Sportwagons.

Crazily badass. Part of me wants a dark-colored P71, with super dark windows, throw a few fake antennas and a push bar = no one stays in front of me in traffic anymore?
*calling FredK to call me a hick*
My dad's old boss had one, pretty strong for such a big vehicle. Bitch ran a red light and T-boned him.
That Holden wagon is sweet, we didn't get that here though.

Mainly, I didn't think not having room would bother me, but we can barely go to the fucking grocery store in the Z.
I never realized how much stuff would fit in my old Monte Carlo until I didn't have it. SO I think I'd like a bit more useable space while still being fun to drive.
Interesting recommendation on the R32, I like VW styling/interior generally, but I'm put off by all the horror stories about reliability. Then buying a rare version of an unreliable car doesn't seem like something I want to screw with.
So I guess my three top priorities are, in no specific order:
1. Useable space (hatch or 4dr <- fuck that makes me feel like an old man)
2. Fun to drive
3. Reliable
The whole purpose behind ditching an E30 as a DD was so I wouldn't have to do anything other than change the fluids and do brakes now and then.
Honestly r32 is one of the best VW's out there, mine was dead reliable I mean seriously not a damn problem with ANYTHING. Huge rotors stock, 6speed like butter tranny, haldex that is upgradable, heated seats, can get nav, HB so you get all the room you'll ever need. The only minus is it's mpg is very similar to m30b35 and it does not have a spare wheel/tire. But the sound and everything else just make up for it.

Good luck with your next car :)
Thanks mang. MPG isn't that big of a concern, the Z avg's 23ish a tank on premium, I just have a problem with the RX-8 being down around 18ish and making so little power.
Daniel is right though, some of you fucks may think you have bad roads, but you haven't been to OK. I've driven in probably 30-35 states across the country and OK is by far the worst.
Dumbass bible thumpers keep electing complete morons into the state/city gov'ts.
