No.... In the long run, sure I lost money since I bought it new and financed (insert overly used and now lame Jalopnik reference), but when I sold the car, I sold it for cheap in our local market, but didn't owe on the car after I sold it.

Oooooo, didn't know you had a thread about this. I'll put my .2 in the machine.........
The caddy's are great choices, the early years have the LS6, which is the same as the C5 ZO6 engine, 400hp out the box. My buddy has an 04 and he loves it, races it at the track on occasion, never broken anything, so I've never heard about diffs. If you want to read more about them, check out LS1tech.com. HUGE forum that I ran around on for a while (had a 2000 Camaro SS).
The later model V's came with the LS2's, slight improvement over the LS6 in design and power. Although the LS series engine are incredibly reliable, strong out the box with minimal mods and can handle mild mods to smack M3's all day.
I don't know if you'd like the vette, other then they handle incredibly well, they're a little more roomy inside then the Z, trunk isn't bad either. But it's just something about a guy in a vette that screams "Look at my vette and my small weiner". That and the backhalf of the vette's aren't built for power at all, so small mods and stickey tires, you might tear up the diff/axles in it.
You could look into the GTO too, get the newer LS2 powered models, but those are on the same page with the rear suspension like the vettes in relation to mods.
There's a few good suggestions on here, if your looking into american sports cars, look into just about any LS powered cars. I'm not a ford guy so I'm not recommending anything from them. And honestly, most LS powered cars, except for the vette, they're pretty easy to work on, cheap to work on, and with small mods like exhaust and intake, they're pretty fun to drive.
Ever think about a clean E36 M3/4/5? If I didn't get my E30 back, that was my next choice. You can get a CLEAN mid/late 90's, around 50k mileage for under 18k. You get the power, handling, room and reliability because you know the S52.
Sold.......again.

240hp isn't enough. I'm not really a fan of E36s.
Levent, damn youse! I LOVE your E39 540 Touring, such a badass car. I, however, don't think I could afford your E28, so much work has gone into that thing!
sleeve is right, it's amazing how many of you keep trying to suggest 20 year maintenance intensive heaps. I'm thinking 2006 at the absolute oldest, and modern VAG products are shit.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

Dude make up your mind already.
"I want a fast nimble car....but it has to have a lot of space. And it has to be cheap. Oh, and it has to be really reliable. And it also has to be new."
Go finance a genesis for 6 years so you can handle the monthly payments."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."

Um, I'm in pretty good shape. Thanks for the concern, though.
Point I was trying to make is the Genesis is a pretty good car but a little over your budget...Last edited by Turf1600; 06-12-2010, 12:05 PM."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."

I also approve a CTS-V. As long as you can get over it's a granny cadillac (which you also stated your getting old anyways, lol, sorry dude), then's it's a solid car.
Sold.......again.
