HYATTSVILLE, Md. - Prince George's County authorities are investigating an explosion in a parking garage.
County fire department spokesman Maj. Tyrone Forby says an initial call came in Tuesday afternoon about a vehicle fire in a garage at 3300 East-West Highway in Hyattsville. Forby says crews arrived and found no fire, but suspicious debris and other objects around a car.
He says bomb squad and hazardous material teams are trying to determine what exploded. He says bomb dogs are sweeping the building, which is comprised of a three-floor garage, a level of businesses and then six floors of residential units.
No one was injured. Forby says county and federal authorities are on the scene. He says they are reviewing surveillance video from the garage and nearby area to develop a person of interest.
