As the best man, you already made a point. You won the first battle. So use the opportunity (the speech) to make peace with the lady. That's the perfect time to make her realize by herself how much of waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles she was and a good guy you are...

forget about her. make the speech about your friend and how awesome he is.

whatever you do don't make mention of how you used to share girlfriends. thats never not akward.

When my brother Harold asked me to be the best man at his wedding I was like of course, man, because you've always been there for me. Like when I was in rehab, and like the time I couldn't find my car. 'Cause Harold has always been the dependable one and I've always been the screwed up one. Right dad? Why can't you be more like your brother? Harold would never beat up his landlord. But uh, news flash, pop, Harold ain't so perfect. Remember that time in Puerto Rico when we picked up those two uh... well, I guess they were prostitutes but I don't remember paying."

Good thread. I know I'll get the best man offer pretty soon here, and the chick my best friend is marrying is a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles.

HA. then you could steal a guitar from the band and play something for everyone all the while reminding them that you are self taught.

Great idea, and make sure you look the bride IN THE EYE as you're saying some of the most meaningful parts of your toast. Then as you are finishing walk around beside her, putting your arm around her shoulder and wish them well.

Girls abhor getting touched by people they dislike, so this will help her understand you aren't scared of her in a non threatening way.

I am getting married next year btw, and pretty much everyone gets along with us except this one bitch her parents know. We still haven't decided if she is coming yet.

well the speech went over well, and the bride thanked me for it and gave me a big hug afterward. So I guess it all worked out.
