I just hate it when they ride 4 wide taking up a whole lane on a 2 lane road when there is a perfectly good bike lane for them to ride single file.

Just to add a bit of fuel to these flames... if I drove in front of you in say a 50mph zone (two lane, busy so you can't pass and I can obviously speed up) and drive 20mph, you wouldn't be pissed?

I think bikes need their own paths. Nothing close to the road. If you can't keep up with the SPEED LIMIT, you shouldn't be on the road. No reason not to share except it's all one sided here. You want full use of the road without being able to keep up with the rest of traffic. Get a motorcycle. Or, lobby for your own highways and bike paths. Not lanes. That's fucking retarded that traffic has to cross "bike lane only" lanes to get to a turn lane (frequent in the greater Seattle/King/Pierce county area).

Now, motorists should just get over it and pass these guys. I hate when someone drives at their pace because they're scared of passing him. Get the fuck over it, learn where the edges of your vehicle are and pass that slow ass, rude, bicyclist ;)

Wow, some people on bikes can be assholes and some people in cars can be assholes. But in the end it's the law so fucking suck it up and don't get but hurt, Jesus Christ.

wheel tax to pay for public roads
That isn't the only tax that pays for roads.

FYI.. its not legal to ride many of those things on the interstate in many states.
Riding a bicycle on an interstate is a death wish.

pass that slow ass, rude, bicyclist
On a narrow two lane road, squeezing close to the dirt shoulder/curb to let a car go by in the same lane is very dangerous for anyone on a bicycle. The safe and correct action is to take up the whole lane until there is plenty of room for the car to pass, or the car changes lanes into the oncoming lane and passes.

In most places, a bicycle has vehicle status according to the law. This means a cyclist CAN and SHOULD take up a whole lane if they need to in order to ride safely.

I just hate it when they ride 4 wide taking up a whole lane on a 2 lane road when there is a perfectly good bike lane for them to ride single file.
This is a dick move indeed, and is dangerous, but still entirely legal.

Yall dont even know, Im in the capitol of bikers thanks to Lance. We have renegade bikers painting bike lanes on roads, hows that for obeying the law? I dont have a problem with sharing the road but I cant tell you how many times Ive slid to a stop to avoid a fucking biker blowing through a red light/stop sign. Im tired of hearing this argument, the truth is their are asshole motorist and asshole bikers your bound to find one everyday, being able to ride a bike on a city street and drive a car are both privileges not rights, and they need to be treated as such by everyone as they can both be taken away.

Isn't it only legal in states that allow lane sharing?

If I am riding my moped that tops out at 30mph, By law I am not aloud to go on roads that the speed limit exceeds 30mph, I do not see how this is any different on a bike. I love riding my bike around town but the way I see it, cars can fuck me up big time so I try to stay as far away as possible, seems like cyclists don't care about their own lives sometimes.

I pay the same amount of taxes that every person in a car does, and I will use the paved surfaces of the roadways (within reason and the law) however I see fit. If you don't like it, too fucking bad. The same goes for all the fuckheads in their cars and trucks who like to yell shit at me and tell me to get off the road when I'm longboarding, while well within the bike lane.

Agreed, shit I bombed a 35mph speed limit hill the other day for a mile, and not even the grandma in a Mercedes tried to pass me. No reason to pass when Im the same speed.

EDIT: I was in the middle of the lane

I would try to post something more worthwhile but all the bases have basically been covered. I ride almost everyday, but I ride far in the shoulder away from everyone. I ride through stop signs where there is NO cars. Obviously if im the only one on a road and safe to do so then I will do it.

As for riding 4 abreast, I think its absolutely fucking stupid. 2 rows of 2 is much more effective, especially if one person is in the shoulder and the other is partly in the roadway. Studies have proven that it is safer to be partly in the lane than entirely off, because out of sight = out of mind = collision.

As for canyon roads, those are the best. Theres a very fun twisty canyon run near where I live and it is basically the most common cycling route, and thus I ride rather than drive it.

Cleating cars... Only when the motorist is being a total douchebag and cuts you off and brakes or nearly hits you etc. something that puts you and others in danger. Or if they call you a "biker fag" or the like. Then we feel inclined to rest our feet on your car. If I just saw a plate like that Id say what a fucking d bag and get on with my life. If he did something that endangered us then yes, cleats would be used.

Motorist vs cyclist arguements are just like skiiers vs snowboarders, its usually faults at both ends.

If you need a driver's license to driver a car, you should need a bicycle license to ride a bicycle on the road. Most bicyclists around here do not follow the laws of the road at all. That is what causes most accidents involving cars and bicycles. If everyone followed the law and common sense (which nearly all bicyclists who cycle on the road in my area exhibit a blatent lack of) there would be a whole hell of a lot less accidents. And yes, i am pointing a big fat accusing finger at the bikers.
