    I'd say the major problem associated with a MK4 golf is the fact that it is a MK4 golf. I would never buy a VW if I was worried about cost of maintenance of a E30 lol. parts are just as expensive and you are going to need a whole lot more of them.

            Hatch back civic is the tits for a DD. I miss mine, 43 MPG and slammed. It was a joy to drive.

                Find a car you like, research it for known problems, then buy car if it seems legit. Rinse and repeat until you have a set of keys.

                          looks like a "pulling truck" to me, they're common here in NC. thats where that one is from i believe.

                              yeah, in aus you, when you are on your provisional license, you cant drive cars that have a turbo or super charger, or a car that produces over 200kw...if we didnt have that i'd already be cruisin in my r32 :D

                              and btw, my budget is round about the 6k mark,id only considered a golf cos i have a cousin that had one and it was apparently a very good car, so good, that now he's got a new gti(which is awesome).
