Because you said the MYT engine would have no torque, but at a high enough RPM, torque is present. The MYT engine makes an amazing amount of HP, therefore at a high RPM, it would also have torque.

Which is nearly useless in a car or truck engine. In a airplane or something that runs at peak power production to provide power to hydro pumps, or gen sets, is about the only place they would work.

TQ at the bottom is hard to give up once you have had it. I DD a duramax with 590ft/lbs at 1600ish RPM stock. I get in the little womans Tahoe with a 350 that makes like 300 ft/lbs and I am like WTF GO where the fuck is the power?????????

I know you have to keep e30's and similar speced engines wound up and drive them as such. You cant expect the general public to buy into something that you have to run wide open just to get to move thanks to the lack of tq.

It sounds like you don't fully nderstwnd the difference between tq and hp.

Question is: if you were to almost get in a mean crash, but had to abruptly drift your way out of the bad situation, would it work?
Someone please contact the bearded guy, can the solar panel be drifted?!?!

To be fair the linear tq "curve" of a wankel is desireable in certain applications, it's mainly been a failure because it has poor emmissions, poor fuel economy, and poor HP given it's size/fuel usage.

I fall into the 1.3L rotaries are actually 2.6L engines.

I guess you forgot about the airplane market? They're more popular where lift:weight is more important.

Wankels were used in anything more than ultra lights????? I was unaware or are you getting rotary engines=wankels confused with Radial engines. Not the same thing. Most HiPo small aircraft engines are turbo flat 6's or even 4's. Any bigger than that they are radial or turbine. A big wankel would be hard to keep air cooled, this is why the artic cat snowmobile wankel engines failed all the time in the 70's and early 80's over heating

And I did mention where a MYT may work as a Plane power plant due to the long runs at High RPM at peek power production.

                          and Danny

I'm most definitely not confusing wankel with radial engines.

As for MYT, I'm intrigued by it.

not to burst your mostly accurate bubble, but one of the wankel's biggest advantages is being very small/light for the power it puts out.

I think you're a little confused about the difference between torque and HP still.. if you want some quick examples of high HP/RPM and low torque applications look at motorcycles and Formula 1 cars making 750hp and 200 lb-ft at 19,000rpm.

But even regardless of that, the MYT currently makes no horsepower because a working prototype of it has still never been built. Dreams are fine and dandy on paper but won't get you very far.
