A) the motor is actually in there the right way, longitudinally.
B) Mitsubishi built the Zero for the Japanese air force in WWII. Nuff said.
C) {the best one} Evos don't have kidney grilles.
Anyway, I voted M3. The money saved in buying the Mitsu will all be lost in replacing all that burnt oil five years down the road.

I'm sure you're not a stupid guy. You're just in the "I read magazines and look at hp figures" club.

Car and Driver just published their "Four Generations of M3" article. The E36 (Euro) was .09 second behind the E46 around Ascari, and just 1MPH behind in top speed. The E46 aint all that.
The new Lancer is bloated compared with the outgoing chassis.
Like someone else said, get a Z4 M Coupe.

Since I have a lot of friends who know how to work on bmw's I wouldn't be worried about the maintenance on the M3 which is why i would choose it over the Evo. I'm sure the Evo performs better around the track than the e46 M3, but the Evo is a much newer car unless I am mistaken. Although it's not the newest generation M3 out there, I agree that the Evo would be more affordable for the younger generations and I personally would want to distance myself from being labled at some high school ricer.
Another thing I notice is that the cops seem to pull over more ricers for no plate and tints compared to bmw drivers. These of course are just my guesses.
