Looks like it would be hard to shift quickly, but then again it probably feels the same as normal.

It wouldn't be any harder or easier to shift quickly. You still have the same exact range of motion. It makes it harder to mess up and money shift though. I think it looks cool and I like that when you're in gear you can see what gear your in and more of a visual feel of what gear you're in.

BTW where in south jersey do you live?

It works in exotic interiors. E30 interior? Not a chance.

QFT. I like the look in some Ferrari's. Can I shift with that style gate on a daily basis? Most likely not. They look silly with tiny fingers and lots of slop. If you have shifted a Ferrari they make a nice "slink" as they slide through the gates.

I dig it. But not brushed aluminum. A matte black or accent color would be flush though.

I've been kicking this idea around for years, ever since I saw it in an S14-swapped UK E21. I've also seen it in an E30, and it looked good.

^Ditto. I've been thinking about it for a year or so. Whenever I decide to get off my lazy ass I might make one.

SO how would you go about making one, take measurements of how far the shifter goes in each direction, then just have the metal laser cut?
