would work great up until the goddamn shifter bushings go to shit on you. Too much slop potential in the e30 system for it to work long term.
I saved 15% on my Bimmer parts by switching to ...

This I guess I can see if it worked well. But as already stated, you'd need a new trans, a DSSR, solid shifter bushings and solid trans mounts or else it would probably just be annoying. And you'd need a lot more aluminum in your interior or again, it'd just look out of place.

My Lotus makes a hell of a lot of shift noise but that's part of the love! It doesn't matter if your racing the tweener next to you in his 318 or driving like an old lady, it makes your shifts sound like a fricking track car...
I would love to have something in my 90 that sounds like it's working right
                  or sound perfromance! ;)

I think it looks cool and I like that when you're in gear you can see what gear your in and more of a visual feel of what gear you're in.

BTW where in south jersey do you live?
you have to look to see what gear youre in?! go buy an automatic.

as for shift gates unless its a ferrari...NO

Probably works great with a new transmission and shift linkage, but get some wear on it and it might not go into that particular gear in that exact way so great. I tried shifting it myself, just felt like shit.
Actually the Diablo is the only car I've driven with a gated shifter that I haven't hated. The shifter is just too tall and fragile in the Murcielago. It's very pretty, but about as convenient as the car itself.
