If I owned a Mac, this is how I would roll. But I cant afford to pay 1500 dollars for 400 bucks worth of hardware.

well, the mac mini is nowhere near that expensive. this is what i did:

buy mac mini through school with upgraded processor (2.26 ghz), $684 i believe. order it with 1GB RAM and 120GB HDD. (Mine is the one with the nvidia 9400M card and mini DVI + display port).

go to newegg.com, buy 4GB RAM for $50 shipped.
go to dell.com (ironically), buy 500GB 7200RPM drive for $140 shipped.

pry open mac mini (doesn't void warranty), swap hard drive and RAM, and you have a pretty leet desktop with a footprint smaller than any laptop for about $875, and it runs both leopard and windows perfectly along with the ability to play 1080p videos with no hitches. upgrading to these specs through apple puts the mini at well above $1000, and their 500GB HDD isnt 7200RPM. Also, if you buy a $10 external HDD case, you can make a 120GB external drive with the old drive.

this was all the sweeter since i sold my 1.5 year old dell xps m1330 laptop for $800 to fund this.

A guy and I at work today about something seriously badass to do with a Mac Mini. I'm going to get an OG Nintendo, hollow the guts out, and install the Mini inside of the Nintendo.

Not saying this happens to every Mac when you try to shut it down, but it's what I deal with ALL FUCKING DAY.

I been a Mac guy since 1996, and have never looked back. I've been through the OS 9.2 withdrawals when OSX first came out, and I was going crazy.

I used to be a network admin at my old job, and there was this one lady who no matter what could eff up her Mac desktop. She had no concept of CPU usage, or why it wasn't ok to have 19 programs open at once, while on AIM, and downloading 231MB files at 3pm during a busy workday. People like this need to be either brainwashed, or beaten with a computer until they get it. :razz:

Now Im up to 10.5.7, and couldn't love it more. I laugh when I see PC's that have pop ups, software updates, error messages, and the like. I run XP Pro on VMware Fusion and my "Windows" doesn't lag up at all.
