Anyone US citizen with dual citizenship in Canada?

The Canadian office of our company has a job opening doing what I do but for 6 more dollars an hour. Or should I say 5.98 USD more an hour. I dont want a work permit or any of that crap forever. I don't mind dealing with it for a year or two. Im thinking dual citizenship would make it easier to go back and forth and work in both countries as I would still be covering the USA when there isnt enough techs down here.

I do not, but in all honesty, if you are willing to do the work, how could dual citizenship be a bad thing?

I assume you will use an accountant for taxes though, lol

I see you are in Mass, where is your Canadian office?

Toronto = omfg that is expensive!
    Vancouver too...

depending on where you will be at the extra $6 may or may NOT make a big difference.

I can live anywhere if I move to Canada. I can live anywhere in the States too. Our Canadian office is in downtown Toronto. I dont nead to live near the office tho. Our main office in North America is in Chicago.

The northeast is close in living cost to canadian big city areas. NYC and Boston are right around the corner from me which have some of the priciest real estate in the States.

If I move to Canada, I would consider Quebec. No front plate!

May I suggest some where in Alberta or BC where the Mountain make the view worth the cost and the work

Quebec is nice, you can import Jap skylines easy (100's ) of them here. Also no inspections as long as the car is on the road.

13% on most everything now. Harmonized sales tax they call it. I live an hour outside of the Toronto area. Lots to do and only an hour to the big city.

I'm a Canadian "Landed Immigrant" which I believe is like a US green card. I can live and work in Canada. But...I would have to pay taxes on world income in both countries. You have to pay US taxes no matter where you earn and you have to pay Canadian taxes on what you earn there.

if your paying taxes in both countries, your doing something wrong. I have done work in the states but I only pay my taxes in Canada. My buddy and his brother both have dual citizenship and they only pay in the country they are living in. six months less a day and no taxes in that country is the way i believe it works.

If you are outta the country for more than 16 months at a time (IIRC) all that cash is tax free.

I believe this is correct as well...Whatever country you spend the most time in, there's where your taxes go.

The U.S. Immigration web page had a ton of great info IIRC.

Canada wins regardless because of your HST!

Alberta doesn't have 13% HST, only 5% GST. Also no front plate, no emissions, no inspections, Japanese vehicle importing (sup E30 tourings, we got 'em), huge expanses of open land and mountains.
