25 is NO WHERE NEAR ENOUGH FOR A GOOD light.

I have a Shurefire 6P LED in my truck, Her Tahoe, My tool bag, My tool box, my backpack, and My Company Work truck. Plus have given many away as gifts

They can be found of ebay for 50-60 and retail at about 90.

You cant beat them. 85 lumen for 11 hours, all for about the size of a mini mag with the out put of a 3 dcell mag light.

so what's wrong with these Coleman "115 Lumens" flashlights?

Answer me this, cause I'm probably just getting one of these, what's better, 2 "CR2 Lithium Cell" batteries (but only lasts 2 hours) or this other that takes 3 AAA and lasts 6 hours. WTF.

      and

      respectively...

Surefire lights are rated at true light output. Most other lights are measured at what the actual LED is putting out. So while the coleman may put out 115 lumen from the LED, actual output ends up being around 70

This is my favorite light: http://www.surefire.com/U2-Ultra

The thing has never let me down, and I've only changed the batteries once. I got it for $free.99 in the Army, and use it ALL the time.

          Also have this: http://www.surefire.com/HelmetLight-C

If you're just looking for a shitty budget $25 dollar light that's going to need replaced in 2 years, get something from Wal-Mart. If you want something to last a lifetime, get a surefire. You won't regret it.

One last note, if you're considering using a light on your car, get a head-lamp. They have been my best friend over and over and over again..

well with out seeing the chart for actual out put decline hard to say. and What Accident said x2

Well the 4 bucks in batts that last 2 hours is a bit step in the power consumption. and really would be a little skeptical of 115lm for 6 hours outta 3 aaa.

Life time warranty is a big plus on the sure fire. I dont shop at walmart, but I have tried all kind of 20-40 dollar LED lights over the last few years and non have been as bright or lasted as long as the surfires. They seem to stop working or work intermittently after a few batt changes.

edit: I bought my 1st shurefire 6p (non led) 16 years ago, its been at the bottom of a lake for 4 months (dropped Ice fishing in about 8 feet of water, and went down and got it in the spring) been run over by trucks and equipment, dropped, kicked, used as a hammer, caught in a hay baler, fallen into a deer carcass, rolled into a live sewer (got it before it went down stream) I cant remember all the shit its been through. And when I reach for it even to this day it still works never had an issue even after all that abuse.

Those batteries are gonna be pricey, so, add a charger and two sets of those pricey batteries to the total you'll be spending.

Which batteries? The Surefire branded CR123 batteries are like $3.99 for two. Cheaper if you buy in bulk. I think the 12 pack is like $20 right now

Another vote here for surefire. I've had an A2 Aviator for years and years, and it's never let me down.

Then again, I'm outdoors all the time, camping/ hiking/ fishing/ trail riding almost every weekend. If you just want something to stick in your glovebox, then a G2 is the answer.

                      I'm talking to the OP.

Those C2R's are what I spoke of. They are what, 2 bucks each, per time for non rechargeable.

So, it would pay for rechargeables, and a charger in what 5-7 cycles?

they dont make rechargable 123 batteries AFAIK, at least not anybody reputable. Plus most Surefire lights have a ridiculous run time, especially the dual-stage ones on low.

Any of you guys ever watched Pitchmen on Discovery channel? I've been interested in trying a Hexlight. It's probably just a gimmick but I can see some benefits to it if it works well.

Just a thought if you're looking for a cheap handfree flashlight
