I speculate that they are already infected. You rise again as a walker when you die. No one has changed that didn't succumb to death, be it from massive blood loss, or infection from a scratch or a bite.

Shane most likely became infected when he was trapped in the bus at the public works building. He used his knife to draw blood from his hand to smear on the door of the bus. It was the same knife he used to stab the walker through the fence minutes earlier...

I also think that its gone waterborne, hence the public works guards becoming infected. The people on the farm have been drinking from wells and not the public water source.

According to the comic books the virus is airborne so when anyone dies they turn into zombies, but when a living person is bitten the virus concentration in their bodies is increased to a point where it is able to kill them and thus turning them into a walker
P.S. The Zombie that Daryl and Glenn dispatched was Randal as a zombie, after he had broken his neck and the virus took his body, what did not make sense to me was how the Randal zombie was able to walk with a broken neck

I was lazy so I just ripped that bit from the link. I believe it's what they will reveal in the T.V. show also; since they did the same in the Comic.

Some think that he told Rick, Lori is pregnant, but Rick didn't look that surprised when Lori finally told him.

I still don't get how Carl can just get around the farm no problem, and wondering at night. The whole house was on lockdown when the two groups went to go look for Randall in the woods, yet somehow Carl slips out unnoticed. Great parenting there.

Question for everyone: are other countries immune to the zombie epidemic/virus? I would think some people who know how to fly planes or helicopters would drive to an airfield and get the hell outta there, thoughts?

You actually hit the nail on the head sir. i was pissed off when i saw the last episode i felt like it changed the show way too much. In reality it was there the whole time according to the comics that is what the doctor told rick, they just cut it out of the show. Hence the name the walking dead, they are all already infected the virus it is air born. Once you die the virus takes over your system.

though i must say its about fucking time that shane was killed, for a while i thought it was going to be rick. i feel like there is going to be at least one more survivor dying on the next episode. hopefully andrea.

I read there will be multiple deaths in the next episode. I'm hoping for Lori and that little fuckhead Carl. He's fucked up repeatedly, reaching a climax when Dale got om nommed.
