I totally agree. Would have liked a solid premiere. Granted this episode delivered. How about the scene with the riot gear helmet being ripped off? Some raiders of the lost ark type shit there!

My wife was a little grossed out by the removal of the riot gear helmet. As for Hershel's status, we'll have to wait and see. Rick made comment about him bleeding out. He looked dead or passed out. The alive inmates, that kinda threatens Rick's "Gold Mine" theory.

I think they are all infected, they would only turn if they do not heal or hack off their zombie bites/wounds. That's what the CDC guy said the first season.

And as far as them getting ammo and such, it's what they have been doing ever since they left Herschel's ranch.
