Am I the only one to think that using a ready-build high tech car for drag racing is lame, and that the point of drag racing is for mechanics/engineers to build engines.
If you watch more videos about it he makes a clean pass of 241mph in a mile, I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to go that fast in a hopped up mustang. Those cars are ready-built high tech cars for touching unfuckingbelievable speeds.

If you can afford a prepared twin turbo gallardo, you don't have to ask.

I was there the day after- some redic cars out there. (turbo supra that hit 235 mph.) Apparently after that, he got in his second twin-turbo gallardo and kept running

Yep, that's the Texas Mile top speed runs. His car came with a whole trailer of 200+ mph cars. He just got in another one and kept going. I'll be he was glad he invested in a full cage for that one though.

I find that hard to believe you know how much down force that car makes at speed? It makes almost twice what my lotus makes at 100mph
I make 100lbs front and 140 rear and that's stock..
the speed he was going he had to be around 450-500lbs on fat wheels!
With out really knowing what happened. I would base my guess on driver error..
He got antzy at speed pulled the chute and jumped on the binders..
The pull from the chute and the front in a dive could easily put the car in to a unsettled state and a nervice twitch on the wheel and alittle over correcting could cause and hell of a problem..
Now you panic and what is the nature of a panic braking? he locked them up and lost all control..
It, only takes a fraction of a secound to get there..

                    That would be my guess..

but it also looked like something came off the car when he pulled the chute??

From what I can tell from the video, it looks like he had two chute system and one failed.

I just can't believe they are holding this where there isn't adequate room to shut the cars down without a parachute.

An eta at that, anything over 16 in the quarter is just stupid to drive on the street.
