Walked into Best Buy @ 3:30 in Atlanta and walked right out with a copy for my 360. It's fun, about as fun as world at war, not quite as fun as MW2, but still fun.

The textures on the guns look great except for the FAL, that looks like shit. but most of them have great textures. I know they have done it for balancing, but the M16A1 in the campaign (and in real life) is single shot or full auto, but in MP they have it on 3 round burst, which came as a new feature no the M16A2 ( to help conserve ammo). also they show the M16 using the short 20rnd mags, but they hold 30, WTF. and if you upgrade to extended mags for it, it shows a regular 30rnd mag in the gun, but you have a capacity of 45... why cant they just make it realistic and stop this balancing nonsense.

but stupid shit aside the game is good and worth getting.

I don't really see the "balance" that much...maybe I haven't played it enough yet (just got it this morning, played maybe 4 hours throughout the day), but IMO for the most part in MW2 there was a balance. For example, there were certain guns that took 4-5 shots to kill (ACR) compared to the something like the FAL that took 1-3 depending on perks/attachments. There were certain tradeoffs depending on what gun class you used. I'm not really seeing that on Black Ops...especially for the SMGs. It doesn't seem like there's an advantage to using an assault rifle over an SMG (range vs. fire rate). I seem to get thoroughly raped by SMGs.

Like I said, I'm only level 15 I think and haven't unlocked much, but that's just my general observation. I can't wait for the FAL, though. The M14 is pretty awesome, I just hope the FAL is even better.

Seems like this issue with the lag is happening to people with dual cores? I have a quad. Me and my brother might go pick this up. They did implement lean back in it. I hope I can install it on more then 1 steam account for god sakes. If I go and buy the disk but can only link it to a single steam account I am gunna be royaly pissed.

its quite possible. i have a quad and i didnt have any issues. my brother has a dual core and it did have issues. however, i told him to update his video card drivers and that fixed the issue.

i finished the single player storyline. it was kind of lame to be honest. its like they mixed F.E.A.R. and codmw2 into one. meh. and the ending was ridiculous. i dont think it could have been anymore patriotic. maybe they could have bumped the us flag count to 50? and had a 10 more jets flying in formation over the sky? maybe? and maybe while a character said, "we won" it could have been a little more dramatic as the shot was framed against the setting sun?

JUST MAYBE.

hopefully the MP will be redeeming. because $60 for the singleplayer is completely not worth it.

I played over at my friends house on his PC, not sure what was in his case. But it was lagging like all fucking hell. I only played MP, as that is all I care for in the cod games. It was actually fun though. I played some Search and Destroy it reminds me of COD4 which is a good thing. The guns are pretty cool.

I really wish they let you use more then one attachment though. (or do they I didn't play much?) It just seemed as if that was the case. If it wasn't for the lag I'd enjoy it. I'll probably pick it up tomorrow.

After working in Multiplayer playing almost all Game types, heres my review:

the good:
Balanced gameplay.
Kill streak kills dont add to new new kill streaks.
small maps = limited, but still there camping.
Realistic recoil.
fun weapons like the explosive crossbow.
super fun "free for all" style wager matches.
FACEPAINT! lol

the bad: sniping is virtually non-existent

Trying to que for a game with more than 3 people is retarded. Treyarch missed the boat on matchmaking BIGTIME (single biggest pet pieve, i loved IW's way for matchmaking
Inconsistant amount of shots to kill. (ie: M16 sometimes kills in one 3rd burst, other times it takes 3 or 4)
Spawns are terrible, you will be killed from behind 75% of the time.
You buy gun attachments as soon as you unlock the gun. so basically you can make your best try hard class without using the weapon at all to unlock say a red dot or similar.

Spy plane perk is overused (as well as hardline)

DIVE TO PRONE IS BROKEN AS SHIT. like... seriously, i just want to go prone after sprinting, im not trying to drop shot, fuck off treyarch.

constant lag spikes (granted 3 million players are playing so ill give that to neutral. )

O and so far (up to level 32 or so) the Assault Rifles are underpowered. SMGs rock in early levels.

I haven't played that many maps yet but I gotta say, there is not one crate, barrel, door, window that looks anything like the past COD. It's completely different, I'm almost offended lol. But so far I gotta say, I really like it. The Multiplayer maps are awesome, I played a couple levels on the Campaign and they were cool I guess.

I just hate the whole money thing, its killing me. I want to level up and get guns/perks. I'm doing pretty well with the MP5K, what guns are you guys using?
