    CPO'd with maintenance and decent miles (40-60k) will run you mid 20s....thats E92s. E90s will be cheaper.

    E90s are actually stiffer than E92s, I believe (E92 has longer doors than the E90, moving the B-pillar farther back)

    Most modern BMWs come up to temp pretty fast. N54's main problems are: HDP (high pressure pumps), software, and turbo wastegates. Occasionally the vacuum lines might become brittle and cause a headache, but thats an easy fix.

    I would suggest an E90/E92 with an N52k (known by the plastic valve cover) with the biggest/longest warranty you can get. Maintenance/CPO would be good.

    A friend of mine just bought an E92/n52k/6 speed with 54k miles and there really isnt too much that goes wrong with the cars. The less options the better, basically.
