Wormwood isn't illegal anymore. Neither is Absinthe. There are a few absinthe distilleries in Oregon actually. It's the thujon levels from the wormwood that's regulated in the US.

I'm looking into it.

It was my understanding that Absinthe is legal, but it's made without wormwood, which is why it's legal.

EDIT: Looks like it still has the same compound (thujone) but at least 2/3 lower on average vs the original absinthe.

Yeah. They regulate the Thujone level, a compound derived from Wormwood. Even the full strength stuff doesnt have enough in it to make you hallucinate. Its an urban myth. You would have to consume something like five bottles (average ABV is 80%), to have any hallucinogenic effects. We have a bottle of Czech Absinthe and it doesn't do anything.

Good point. I got wasted for the first time when I was 15, and thought it'd be a good idea to drink Old Milwaukee, then some orange Mad Dog, then some grape Mad Dog, then some warm Hood River vodka straight. I was sick as hell and thought I was going to die. These products should be banned!
