A new addition to the family

My wife and I are going to have a baby!

We found out Thrusday evening, after my wife took a pregnancy test, having been a few days late on her period and not feeling very well. Her official test with her OB-GYN is on June 1st, but pregnancy tests are seldom wrong.

For those wondering, yes the pregnancy was planned. My wife went off birth control about 4 months ago, and while we haven't been actively trying, we just decided to let it happen.

If it's a boy, the name will be Sebastian Kelly. If it's a girl, her first name will be Zoey, we haven't decided on a middle name yet. The baby is due around January.

I've never been so excited about anything in my life. I know a bunch of people are going to start saying "there goes all your mod money" and blah blah blah, but fortunately for me, almost all of the big mods to my car are done or on their way soon, and after all the big stuff is done, I will just do small things from time to time.

Aside from getting a few more big things done, I don't really care about anything else right now except providing the best possible life for him/her when it comes. I make good money at my job and so does my wife, so I'm not really too worried. Once Heather is done with school, I'll be going back to finish my sociology degree, and hopefully be getting an even better job once I have my degree.

Congrats Josh.....good news to hear. Its a shame the E30 Touring was never offered here because that would be my first 'family car' suggestion to you. I have a brother and a sister who both have children and it really changed their lives. Lots of work but very rewarding too.....and I love being Uncle Jon :D

Here's to the new chapter in your life you're about to start :drink:

We're actually planning to sell her 325i coupe and get her a 4-door, though I'm starting to look at E34 tourings. She also likes the Mazda Protege 5.

If I ran into a kid named Sebastian and he wasn't a singing crab with a hot chick in a seashell bra, I'd beat him up.

Alright, that one seriously had me laughing out loud. :D

His full name will be Sebastian, but he will just be called Seb.

Speaking from ABSOLUTE experience with kids and e30 sedans. It works. It's tight, but it can work.

It is really tight when they are infants, because they have to be rear facing, and the car seats are usually mammoth. I ended up having to keep my pass seat far forward for a long time. Shop around for the best fit (I didn't), as you don't want whoever is in your pass seat to be knees-to-the-dash.

If you are tall, forget about putting anybody but a kid that can straddle your seat behind the driver. (older kids usually) I am 6 feet and have my seat all the way back, no room for kiddy feet between the older child booster seat and the back of my seat.

                    Screw it man...
Go for the e34...that is what I am going to do.

                    :)
                    CONGRATULATIONS!!! You want a nanny?

That would be one hell of a commute.

Aside from that, my wife was a nanny for almost 3 years, and has been working in some facet of childcare, including now being a preschool teacher for almost 7.

Congratulations Josh. Your whole life is about to change in ways you can't even imagine. All for the better though. It's really really good stuff.

This is waaaay early, but in case it doesn't have the opportunity to come up again later: be really careful in the last trimester (especially the last month or so) if you guys are still doing the "love" thing. With our second daughter, my wife went into labor right after our business was completed and we had to rush to the hospital. We made it, and had to spend an uncomfortable night in the hospital and they gave meds which caused the contractions to subside (this was at 8mos.) Two weeks later, we were at it again, and she started having major contractions, and this time, we waited a bit(too long as it turned out) to see if they would resolve, but nothing doing. We took off on a mad rush to the hospital and didn't make it. I had to deliver my second daughter in the front seat of the car, on an off ramp, 50* weather, at 12:15 in the morning, with one weak ass map-light. Everything went fine, that was 8 1/2 years ago.

Sorry for the long post, but just thought I'd share that with you. Just know that it can happen and be prepared.

My wife's doctor actually told us to do it towards the end to try and get her "jump-started".

Congratulations Josh. your world is about to change - radically!

Before you know it, you'll be sending 'em off to school and taking them to Disney World. Believe me - I have three.

And you ought to look at an e34 Touring. Once you have two though, you are in Mini-Van land, my friend.

Dude. You did that in an E30. Tell me you did it in an E30!! That must have been a gross passenger seat though...yikes.

And wow Josh, I'm not anywhere near that point...and to be honest I'm glad. But I'm happy for you, and I hope your kid gets the E30 bug!
