    N. Korea fires on S. Korea

    Input.

Hours after North Korea's deadly artillery attacks Tuesday, South Korea's president said "enormous retaliation" is needed to stop Pyongyang's incitement, but international diplomats urgently appealed for restraint.

After their last stunt nothing but condemnation will be the only thing that happens. Honestly the UN will not get involved again, and the US would rather not as well.

South Korea should toss a rocket at the North and say oops my bad or tit for tat.

I'm not really that 'political' but I wanna call bullshit on our last 5+ years of WMD / iraq crapola.

Here's a rogue nation that has said straight up, "we have nukes and will use them" and fires on our allies etc... and they get... six party talks and 6 months of free diesel fuel.

We need to cut a deal with their military, remove the ruling wacko family, and get them straight.

Or, have the chinese build a giant walmart across the border and we'll help out with a lightly irradiated giant parking lot. Fuck the UN.

no slight intended, as you can see from my stance on N.Korea. this is not a troll post....

Deterrence and the fact is we wanted a US presence in the area to be able to project force into Southeast Asia in the 50's due to the scare of Communism spreading.

The cease fire allowed for the stationing of US forces in Korea.

Korean War technically never ended.....an armistice was signed in 1954 which resulted in the DMZ, but that did not end the conflict, which continues to this day. If you read the wording (link: http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Korean...tice_Agreement ), it is basically a wartime ceasefire, meant as a temporary measure until a "peaceful settlement" can be reached. That has yet to happen. In addition to those forces on the ground, we also maintain a forward deployed aircraft carrier in Japan, partly for contingincies in either S Korea or Taiwan. It is a conflict that we have been prepared to engage in for the last 56 years.
