Thats how I feel. Wouldn't get up at 5 in the morning to cook any other day. And I surely won't roast an entire turkey unless its Thanksgiving.

The next best thing to Thanksgiving dinner is the turkey sandwich for lunch the next day, and the next, and the next.

When I lived with my parents I would always get Honey Baked Ham sandwiches for a week after T day (on a croissant with swiss and mayo).

OP, I too shared your viewpoint until I had an epiphany. About 10 years ago, I had the revelation that turkey is not a standalone meat, and as such, bacon has been required at all of my thanksgiving gatherings ever since.

It's tough to beat moist thanksgiving turkey on a buttermilk roll with a dab of butter, slice of bacon, and a little salt and pepper.

Ahhh gotcha. Yeah, rare is perfect for me......I've had "rare" steaks that were basically still cold, and while not bad, they also weren't quite as flavorful as a perfectly cooked rare steak......maybe kind of semantics here, but I think there should be a slight difference. For me, medium rare is too subjective, and I think it can give a chef the impression that you want a more cooked steak....or at least it often ends up more in the medium range vice med rare. I've had medium rare steaks done correctly that were awesome, but it also seems a bit too easy to goon up, and I'd rather error on the undercooked rather than the overcooked side.

If you are going to feed my family filet mignon for thanksgiving, you better bring a shitload of filet mignon.

i see what you are saying. maybe you are just not a turkey guy. i can respect that. i would go with wild boar if i could find it in sf.
im not big on filet because i think it has almost no flavor. its just soft.
if you really want something good order a goose at your local butchers! its like a large duck!
ill post some pictures of what my friends and i cook. we work at a restaurant together.

Would I rather have a normal T-Day than Lamb Kebobs from the incredible Greek joint across town? I don't know...but the food I put on the table on T-Day is absolutely flawless and spectacular...and honors tradition in my home of giving thanks for being graced with a wonderful life.
I'll eat anything and appreciate it to the fullest if it is prepared by my family. Agree 100%.

Now leftovers are a whole different story. I'll eat it cold directly out of the fridge.
