After bouncing around jobs for a while I've decided that I'm tired of working for morons all the time. My last job I worked for geek squad, the bureaucracy of best buy is so damn thick you could cut it with a knife (only after getting the proper paperwork and authorization from various managers).
After quitting that a while ago I went back to my usual bumming around making money on my own doing various things, parting cars, fixing peoples computers, buying and selling random stuff, etc just to get by. It's nice working for yourself, but the constant paycheck regardless of what is going on that you would get at a "real" job is also nice.
Around that time my buddy was repairing iPhones for people he knew, which slowly turned into fixing them for random stangers (now customers) from word of mouth. I started to help him out, and together we have been running a small business out of his basement. Between the customers we have now, and just buying and selling iphones, I have made more money out of his basement then I ever did with a 9-5 paycheck and I do maybe 1/10th of the work I would for a real paycheck.
Previous to this, and right after I quit best buy, my dad mentioned that he had a building I could have to open a computer repair shop. Initially I didn't think much of it, and wasn't very enthused to do it, it would just be one more shitty local repair shop and I didn't see huge dollar signs. But now that I have been making so much money with phones I decided to take the building over. He made me an offer on using the building that I pretty much can't refuse. I would be hard pressed to find a deal like that if I went out to find a place to open a shop.
The building is actually part of his restaurant corporation and have been passed around my dads business for various things for years. About 3 years ago my mom had it for her shop, and did a lot of "cleaning up" to make the building more presentable. She moved out to a bigger location about a year ago and it's been storage since.
So the past few months myself and my now business partner have been coming up with a business plan, getting all the legal stuff done, and trying to physically get things rolling on the building. It took a while to clean it out since it was a dumping ground for all the restaurants. The thing was packed to the brim hoarders style with ovens, construction equipment, and various restaurant stuff. We finally got it cleared out about a week ago.
Here goes construction and clean up

The paint is actually a lot lighter than it looks, it was still wet and it was about 11pm when I took the last pics.
The building is also in an awesome location, it is literally 1 block away from being in the dead center of down town Rochester.
