Hey everyone,

I don't know if this is the appropriate section for this/if it is even forum appropriate, but i figured id go and post it anyway. (mods: move, lock, or delete this thread if you feel its necessary)

I'm currently taking a year off school to try and figure out what the hell i want to do with my life and to make some moolah.

In order to do so I got a job selling Cutco. The pay is legit and the product kicks ass. Some of you may have heard of it/own it/have opinions on it. I'm not writing this to get negative feedback or responses, about what I'm doing or the knives. Im having a bit of a rough time with sales right now, and the second job hunt isn't going so well, so I just figured I'd let you fellas know I'm selling Cutco. So if you have any interest in ordering some, have any questions, or would like to share any POSITIVE feedback you can do so here or shoot me a PM.

Vector marketing is such a scam, get out now!
I know so many people who have gotten roped into that and wasted a ton of time for little or no money.

You even had to buy your own set of knives to demonstrate for prospective customers, right?

yup, my knives cost me $150. After 2.5 months I'm at about $6k in sales and have earned roughly $1k. So thus far the amount of time i have put in has paid out big time.
Just figured id post here to see if anyone had a set and wanted to add to it, or had any questions or nice things to say about vector/cutco.

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. Thus far vector hasn't scammed me out of anything. I admit i was skeptical at first, but like i said before this job has treated me pretty well in terms of both time put in and money made.

I actually have a set of cutco knives - from almost 15 years ago. They're still holding up pretty well, but I should probably have them sharpened.

I think you could probably make money selling them. It's a sales job, if you aren't good at sales you aren't going to make anything.

The knives are ok. The selling part of them isn't worth it in the long run. It's good if you try it for a few months then get out.

it totally seems good, at his current rate this year he'll sell $28.8k worth of knives and take home $4.8k

the knives are all really high quality, but WAY over priced for what they are. You paid $150 for your demo set. You know cutco AND vector made money off it, and your cost was at something like a 75% discount from the normal price. (i went to the vector thing a LONG time ago) The combination of the outrageous markup and them not providing any prices when i asked during the "group interview" made me really leery of their product and business practices.

2.5 months and youve netted $850 (Im betting less if you factored in all costs)? You should be able to beat that doing a traditional college job, or better yet search for a job that would be applicable to your career while at the traditional college job.

And Vector Marketing is scam. Sure you may do OK initially but its dependent on your inner circle to buy their knives and then beyond that it dies off QUICKLY. Good luck finding new prospects on your own.

As for Cutco, not all of their products are crap, just most of them. They actually do make some decent knives, problem is Ive seen just as decent knives at a traditional store for less. And their serrated "non-serrated" knives are crap on the level of Ginsu or whatever.

actually the polished "non-serrated" edges are part of why they last so long. The points dull from abuse but the sharpened edges inside don't. Hell I put mine in the dishwasher. :D

did this freshman year of college for 5 whole days.

3 days of unpaid training sitting at the office for 6 hours or so

2 days of selling knives to family members and my friend's families, neighbors etc...sold about $1200 worth of knives in those 2 days, got my first promotion, made enough money back to cover the starter set of knives n shit and never went back.

Vector marketing is a tricky one, but you can make tons of money if you follow their program and keep up with it. keep in mind, however, how much more money they are making off of each knife than you are...

though, by the time you reach like $50 grand in salee, you can be bumped to %50 commission...that's ballin'

we have a full set and they're much better in keeping an edge than other brands we've had

good for you trying to get ahead
selling cutco knives is great training for any sales related job in the future and can only enhance a resume

I have a full cutco set, they're awesome. Peanutbutter and jelly knife is the best thing ever.

Cutco knives are quite awesome, however I hate vector with a passion. They use your friends and family to sell a nice, however overpriced product. There is a damn good reason they don't sell Cutco in stores, no one would pay as much money.

I actually was hired by vector awhile ago, but after that I looked around a bit and discovered just how much work it would take to actually make decent money. I ended up picking up a more stay and far more enjoyable job. Yeah I know a few people who have done the vector thing and done well, but there are a lot of better jobs out there...
