My dad was a mechanic back in the 70's and all his IR air tools still work to this day. MY favorite though is IR corded electric impact. It's a bit too big for suspension work and the like, but for changing wheels and stuff, it's so nice and quick and you don't have to have a compressor.

I got my IR 2131 when they first came out about ten years ago. Never had a single problem with it, and I haven't treated it kindly. If the new ones are still put together as well I'd say you can't go wrong.

+ eleventybillion. I got one of these when they came out several years ago along with the 3/8's version. I have not been kind to them and use them both daily. No problems other than changing the retaing clip and o-ring on the anvil to keep my sockets from falling off.

IR 2115ti in 3/8 or the 2135ti in 1/2. If you want brand bragging rights, then get a SO MG325 or MG725.

Got a 3/8 IR 2115ti and scored a killer deal on a one month old 1/2 MG725 and they both are killer guns. You can't go wrong with either one.

You guys are all talking about how much torque your guns have, but that is not the only important thing about an impact gun. You need to make sure you get a gun that you can modulate the throttle. I have seen a LOT of guns that were more or less like on-off switches, and that makes it very easy to overtorque every bolt.

I have the Matco gun (made by IR) shown below. It Is very strong, light, and it's easy to modulate the throttle.

The OP says "besides Mac" and I'm not a big Mac guy, but I recently picked up a Mac AW284Q. Small, light, quiet. 500lbs forward, 600lbs reverse, comfortable to use and affordable at $269. Anything this thing won't twist off probably needs the shop 3/4" gun anyway.

Damn, why is it so cheap in the states?! The MAC guy that comes to our shop wants like $400 for that gun. I'm going down to LA for christmas so Maybe I'll try and find a guy down there. Also: Tons of you guys are from Socal, what's a good tool shop that has IR and the like in LA? Closer to Manhattan Beach the better.

The IR 2135 ti is about 1000 ft of torque i think. Never killed it yet building heavy diesel machinery in very harsh environments. Oil it once a day. And i can't remember what the warranty is but its pretty good.
