Picked up a new setup last year, Ride Machete 158 with contraband bindings, Burton ION boots.

I don't do a lot of crazy stuff, just got into park so it's all new. Just love getting out to ride!
I just picked up this years Machete. Only 4 days of riding on it but so far I love it.

aight, i've noticed i have to be careful with not digging in or whatever but i guess since i have always ridden it like that i'm used to it.

Been riding since I can remember. Skis and Boards.

Just picked up an Empire 164 am/alpine board which i'm carving in softboots. This board is just wicked fast and cuts in nicely!! It was a gift from a friend who works customs at the boat ports...it's what happens when things get seized lol. Thinking about investing in a hardboot setup and really get carving, but for now this is pretty good.

maybe i'm just picky, from riding carving boards... i bet he could probably get away with a smaller boot, to fix the problem regardless..

actually i'm willing to bet, every on here could stand to wear a boot a size or 2 smaller

Yeah, you guys carve a lot harder, so overhang would be bad for you guys.

Since both you ride hardboots, how do you like it compared to soft? I was thinking HARD about either getting a dedicated all mountain twin board or alpine hardboot setup.

                  What do you guys think?

                  Sold.......again.

I just picked up a Bataleon Goliath 157 this year. Still have my forum destroyer 154 from the last year they had the flo set ups. Paired with a new set of Burton Cartels and 32 focus boots.

I've visited that site a few times. I'll be checking that site more often now that I'm actually getting into it though :).

Any setups or guides you know of that could help get me started would be great...I have no idea where to begin and nobody around who carves so everything is just floating around right now.

Love to snowboard... I didn't get to go last year and I really let myself go; making this year really hard!

My setup for the last 4 (maybe more?) seasons:

Atomic Alibi with K2 bindings / Nitro boots. I could probably stand an upgrade all around.

I'm here. I've gone snowboarding only 3 times
1st time) Whitetail in west virginia. i was better than my brother and my dad (both of their first times too) but still not great
2nd time) school ski trip to Wintergreen in VA. They called me "Bunnyhill Bob" after that and for good reason.
3rd time) last year out in the rockies. My buddy and I visited my cousin in Denver and went out to the mountains for 4 days. I got thrown into the shit but, by the 2nd day, I was feeling it and when we hit keystone for night skiing.

Best time of my life. Doing it again this spring break!

Rentals the first two times. I just borrowed my cousin's old board in CO. a Burton, i believe. i don't know much more than that. It had some bindings that broke on the last day.

it really can go either way. the things you should think about are "how often am i carving, how satisfied am i with my carving, what kinda of snow am i usually riding, how much money am i willing to invest in a set up"

the first 2 are pretty intuitive. if your riding firmer, snow most of the time (now loose/fresh pow), you could benefit from hard boots, but if you ride mostly pow, hard boots are absolutely worthless.
Another aspect to think about is how much your willing to invest. i spent about $800 on my "beginner" set up between a used board, used bindings, and brand new boots. while my buddy can slowly build his soft boot carving set by buying a burton custom-x, and then harder bindings (with a carving stance), and next year he'll get firmer boots.

i guess i would put a carving stance (both feet forward) your board if you haven't already, and try to go from there. i don't check this thread enough, so feel free to pm if you have any more questions, so that i can be notified.

alpine, snowboard, almanac, alpinecarving, snowboarding, carving, carve, carvers, carver, intec, Catek, Bomber, Burton

thats a good place to start. it's a little out dated, but i dont think you need to be learning about the latest $3k kessler race boards just yet.

I would look for a shorter "all mountain carving" board to start
again, pm me if you have question, so i can get a notification.
