FOTA is a bunch of bitches every year about getting cost down but every year they introduce something new and require it for every team forcing cost up for R&D, i.e. KERS, and now 4 bangers. Going green in F1 is the complete opposite of what F1 was originally founded on, using the most of technology to gain that tiny edge over your competitor. Going "green" is just going to introduce stupid rules and regulations turning it eventually into a bunch of waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles electric cars going in a circle, because turning right might wear the tires too much and hurt the environment.

A couple months ago I saw a Saleen S7R being raced at a 12 hour event, I stood about 20 feet from the track and when the sound waves from the combustion hit my chest repeatedly many times per second, I almost ejaculated.

Downsizing and "eco-friendly" engines are retarded. VW was all "oooo, look what we made" with their retardedly tiny TSI engines, as if they made a breakthrough. Even though Fiat was making similar engines in the late 80s. Cept the Fiats weighed 2000 pounds, whereas the modern crapbuckets exceed 3500.
Problem is that an engine turboed up to almost twice its regular output will not last long. Centainly not the 300k+ miles most well engineered old cars swollow. The (optimistic) life span will be half of the old cars, and they'll all end up up at junk yards. Yay! That's how you save trees.

            more power = more fuel

the size of the engine has little to do with it, they're basically going to end up restricting HP, that's the only way to reduce fuel useage.

I'd rather watch those Japanese vagina-machine races.
Restricting HP is like telling Olympic athletes to be fast, but not too fast.

Thank you for beating me to it.

Hard to believe that "gearheads" can't understand that concept.

They are "Claiming" that between KERS/Engine/moveable rear wing, that lap times should remain near what they are now.

                I'm still skeptical though.

I'm tired of the all the engineering restrictions in F1. They need to go to a "salary cap" type system. Give a few basic restrictions such as overall size and the tires to be supplied and say..........GO!

That way if a team wants to spend its money on Aerodynamics, it can. Wants to build a big hp motor, it can. Active suspension, sure.

That's really the only way F1 will return to the pinnacle of engineering like it used to be.

I'm for a spec tire just because it's been proven that in sports where tire wars are going on, not all the teams get access to the best/newest compounds and such. Only the top teams get this.

It seems that most of motorsports have lost meaning. They have become their own criteria that relates to nothing seen on the road, much less any of the driving conditions seen here. Put mail boxes and trash cans at the apex that block your view and see how they handle that one. Put at least one Jersey shore looking whore in an Escalade on the track texting and starting shit with the drivers wives.

To be fair, F1 was never supposed to have anything to do with road going cars.

Personally, I'm a fan of utterly ridiculous nonsense. You want to build turbocharged fire-breathing fan cars that run on the blood of baby seals? Go right ahead. Mayhaps F1 should introduce an upside-down section of the track to justify it.

This is stupid. I'm sure these engines are light years ahead of the efficentcy of a normal oem engine. Y they he'll would you go green. Maybe they should win buy average MPG.
