There's this guy that drives a Evo8 at the local BMWCCA autocross events. The car is NASTY. I'd at least test drive one if possible. I got a ride in a 400 awhp Evo8 and it was pretty amazing. The interior doesn't look that great. In fact, it looks ugly.

I don't know if anybody has said it yet, but an S5x E30 is much faster vs. A stock or mildly modified Sti or Evo.

That being said, I almost bought an Evo for a daily driver but settled for an E36 M3/4 instead-- only because I'm a BMW tech. Oh yeah, did I mention that I regret that decision? Evos are fantastic to drive and have tons of potential..

This would be true for the V6 or the convertible. From what I've read the V8 is a performance value but misses the mark on interior quality... as along as it doesn't rattle, I wouldn't care.

clown shoe for sure. With an s54, simpler and faster than e46 I'd think.

You know anything about the new 5.0?

There is a test against the e92 m3 and they run virtually identical lap times, with the m3 understeering more and the stang more likely to step out.

The new 5.0 is also way cheaper... I really like this car.

                Out of danny's range, though.

The 5.0 was a track version I believe?

This may sound weird, but the new R56 Cooper S is an awesome car. Build quality is awesome, it's made by BMW, sooo much aftermarket support and gets amazing gas mileage.

Sorry, but this is a HORRIBLE idea. They fall apart like there's no tomorrow. BMW just owns MINI btw.

Really? I only heard horror stories about the r53 models.

I've seen every type of Mini Cooper come in all for the same issues. The electric steering fail. Timing skips a tooth. Carbon build up. The heads always end up coming off for some sort of replacement/repair. I wouldn't own one, plus, they're FWD. I just don't care for any type of Mini Cooper and I don't like the way they drive. But hey, that's just me :)

You know, I hear people bring this up constantly, and I've never actually seen it. I own an E36, as do several of my friends, and none of us have had this issue. I'm getting the feeling that it's one of those things that happened to a few people who flogged the piss out of their cars regularly and it blew up from there.

As for you, Danny, I'm all for the M Coupe. I'd love to own one of those someday.

Word, 3 e36's, none have had subframe issues; all have had rtab issues. Buddies have a e36 and e46's and none have subframe issues either.

Still think the STI is a better choice coming from e30, but e46 m3 is so much sexier.
